Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Jason Bin

Center Director
My name is Jason Bin, and I am a graduate from Stamford High School. Before becoming an Instructor at Mathnasium, I was an instructor of martial arts, which is when I realized my love for teaching and working with kids. Since then, I have known that I want to be a teacher, and Mathnasium has only encouraged that passion. I have been part of the Mathnasium team since Fall of 2021, and my favorite part about it is how it has always felt like such a welcoming environment for both, the students, and the instructors. Math has always been something that just makes sense to me and am happy to help it make sense to others too. I really believe in the program here and love seeing kids understand their math work while they enjoy what they are doing.

Darcy Cook

Instructor
Hi! My name is Darc, and I am a recent graduate of Duke where I studied Economics. There I worked as a teaching assistant for the Economics department for introductory statistics classes and I realized my passion for breaking down complicated math concepts in a simple and fun way. I have always loved teaching, and I enjoy watching kids grow in their confidence and enjoyment of math. I am excited to continue to work with the kids at Mathnasium!

Nancy Stone

Instructor
I came to Mathnasium from a private school in Boston. Having taught Math and Art History to students in Grades 3 - 9 for ten years. I relocated to Greenwich to be near my adult children. As both a parent and an educator, I bring a unique perspective to teaching at Mathnasium. As a parent, I understand the issues, expectations and worries facing many parents. As an educator, I know the daily challenges, opportunities, and delights that working with young people can provide. Here at Mathnasium, teaching a fresh perspective on Math, we identify each student's unique learning style as well as assess their Math competency. This focus creates a unique learning plan targeted for each student's success. So, why spend my afternoons teaching at Mathnasium? I'll tell you why. When I facilitate an "Ah-ha" moment with a student(s), my heart does cartwheels. Literally. Nothing brings me greater joy than watching a student understand a new concept, or connect an abstract thought to something concrete. It also makes my heart sing. This is why I surround myself with students. What a lucky opportunity!

Arnav Bhatia

Instructor
Hello, my name is Arnav Bhatia. Math has always been a strong suit of mine, and my favorite subject in school. On top of all that, I greatly appreciate the opportunity to share this passion with the wonderful students here at Mathnasium. I would love to pursue economics, a career entirely based on the fundamentals of math. My time here has been only a pleasure, to work with all the lovely & bright students who come here. My favorite part about Mathnasium is how students can also come here to socialize while getting work done. I am here to help students and to provide a beneficial learning and social experience for all the students!

Ben Varghese

Instructor
Hi, my name is Ben Varghese, and I have been a math lover since middle school. Mathnasium has allowed me to help students ignite a passion for math, for which I am very grateful. It has also shown me how much I enjoy teaching others. My favorite part of Mathnasium is that we are able to make learning something enjoyable, something that I think everyone should be able to experience. Growing understanding and changing the way kids think of math is my goal, and I am so lucky that I have been given the opportunity to do it here at Mathnasium.

Brett Sylvester

Instructor
My name is Brett and I am a student at Greenwich High School. I’ve learned a passion for working with kids after being with them and instructing them the past two summers at a summer camp. When I found out about an opening at Mathnasium, I realized this was a job for me. Not only do I love working with kids, but I also wish to become a math teacher in the future, and this job meets both of these criteria. The reason I love Mathnasium so much is because it is a much different experience than inside the classroom, where students can sit down with more focus on their specific needs and so the instructor can find a way that the STUDENT understands the material that is provided, not just the basic way it is taught in school. I hope my students can get a meaningful experience from here and I hope I can teach students a way that works for them.

Jack Song

Instructor
Hey there! I'm Jack, a computer science enthusiast and educator who graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2023. Mathematics has always been my forte, fueling my passion for problem-solving. Teaching at Mathnasium is also a great way for me to look at math topics from a different perspective. When I'm not teaching or coding, you'll often find me on the badminton court, staying active and indulging in my favorite sport. Whether I'm crunching numbers or perfecting my backhand, I'm always eager to learn, grow, and inspire others along the way.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
