Mathnasium of Littleton Encourages Participating in Academic Competitions

Feb 14, 2018 | Littleton

Of course, Mathnasium of Littleton teaches math skills, but we are also interested in the overall success of children. Success in life requires more than just math skills. It requires perseverance and social skills, too.

Academic competitions are a great way for children to learn valuable skills, such as working diligently, being a team player, sportsmanship, focusing, and seeking new challenges. Many academic competitions also teach kids to think divergently and solve problems quickly.

There are academic competitions for just about every age group, interest, ability level, and region. Most competitions target high school and college students, but there are plenty for middle school and even elementary students. Many schools sponsor clubs that participate in different academic competitions. If your child’s school does not sponsor a team that is right for your son or daughter, they still have options. They can start a new club or find a competition that doesn’t require a sponsoring school.

We compiled a list of webpages with various academic competitions. Since we are a math-learning center, our list focuses on science, technology and math competitions.

We hope you find a competition that ignites a new passion or spurs new abilities in a current passion. Also keep in mind our annual math competition, the TriMathlon, which takes place the first Saturday in November each fall! As an added bonus, when decision makers consider candidates for colleges, scholarships, and employees, they look for students who have participated in these types of competitions. Just the willingness to participate in them shows that a person has courage and curiosity.

If the competition requires extra math skills, we hope you will come to Mathnasium of Littleton to prepare. We make math make sense!
