Question: A deli serves sandwiches and side dishes for lunch.  They have three types of sandwiches: ham, turkey, and veggie, and two types of side dishes: soup and salad.  How many different sandwich and side combinations can be made from the choices?
Answer: 6 combinations

Upper Elementary
Question: Megan has 10 songs that are each 3 minutes long and 10 songs that are each 5 minutes long on her mp3 player. If she wants to listen to exactly 1 hour of music, what is the maximum number of songs she can listen to without repeating a song?
Answer: 16 songs
(Note – In order to maximize the number of songs, she listens to as many of the shorter songs as possible. 10 songs x 3 minutes = 30 minutes. For 30 additional minutes she can listen to 6 five-minute songs for a total of 16 songs.)
