Devi Paolillo MS, MFT, Owner/Center Director Master Certified by Mathnasium
Devi combines her many interests and professional talents to create the best learning experience possible for students. She has been an elementary school teacher, supervised student teachers, taught workshops for teachers on best ways to teach and worked with children, adults and families as a psychotherapist. At Mathnasium, she is responsible for developing and supervising the instructors, as well as managing the business. She has had twenty-five years experience as an educator and therapist working with children of all ages and stages of development. Devi was a consultant for an educational training and development firm that offered professional development workshops for teachers across the Northeast United States. She also prepared a community college for accreditation by teaching and assisting faculty to design and develop their curriculum to standards. Additionally, as a therapist she specialized in helping families with adopted children. She loves direct teaching time with Mathnasium students. Devi graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a degree in Mathematics and Education. She earned a Masters in Science from SUNY New Paltz in Special Education and a second Masters at Hahnemann University in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Meg Pietsch, Director of Education
With a B.S. in Mathematics and Master of Arts in Teaching and Teacher Education (Secondary Mathematics), Meg enjoys sharing her love of math with students. She has been tutoring math for 30+ years. One of her greatest joys is working at Mathnasium: seeing students gain confidence and excellence in Mathematics. As a grandmother of 2, she enjoys spending time with family as well as hiking, traveling, and Sudoku.
Omar Beltran, Instructor
Omar graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Agriculture Economics. His favorite part about Mathnasium is helping students overcome their fear of math while making a positive difference in their lives. some of Omar's hobbies include playing chess and listening to country music.
Duane Durr, Instructor
Duane studied math at the Institute of Technology University of Minnesota with degrees in Mathematics and Operations Research. He retired from a career in healthcare administration and finance. Duane Tutored high school students frequently. He loves that eureka moment at Mathnasium when a student grasps a new concept - the expression on their face is priceless.
Jon-Erik Harrisstrawn, Instructor
The most important thing to Jon-Erik is his family; he has two daughters. He is a student at the University of Arizona studying Math Education. He plans to teach high school students. Jon-Erik says that working at Mathnasium has been wonderful. He loves getting to know the kids and watching them grow. He is a huge fan of sports and is a proud member of the Zona Zoo.
Caleb Canchola, Instructor
Caleb graduated from The University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Science in Materials Science and Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Math was never a subject he was particularly passionate about until his Sophomore and Junior year math teachers went out of their way to inspire and encourage him. It is his desire to do the same for the students that visit Mathnasium.
Ryan Dycus, Instructor
Ryan Dycus studies pure mathematics and philosophy at the University of Arizona. Ryan enjoys taking the theoretical perspective of his studies into his job at Mathnasium, helping students discover that math isn't just about solving for x but understanding why and how we solve for x. His other interests include psychology, literature, and music. After graduation, he plans to pursue a PhD in math.
Kirsten Conover, Instructor
Kirsten is a student at the University of Arizona, where she is majoring in Elementary Education, with a minor in Mathematics. Growing up, math was always her favorite subject. Kirsten’s true passion is working with kids and helping them to realize their full potential by instilling them with confidence. Finding a job that combines these two was a dream. Kirsten’s hobbies include reading, Tae Kwon Do, and travel.
Alicia Duran, Instructor
Alicia is a busy wife and mother of six amazing children. She has an associate's degree in business administration, and math has always been her favorite subject. In high school,m she was a math tutor, so finding a part-time job in a math learning center was exciting! Alicia's favorite part about Mathnasium is working with the kids and seeing them develop confidence and a love of math. Her hobbies include cycling, running, and spending time with her family.
