• Where is Mathnasium of Short Pump located?

  Mathnasium of Short Pump is located at 11530D West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23233, across the parking lot from Regal Cinemas in Short Pump, right next to Burger King. Our convenient location offers easy access for families throughout the Glen Allen area. 

  We serve students from Henrico County Public Schools, Hanover County Public Schools, and Goochland County Public Schools. Local schools include:

• Does Mathnasium of Short Pump offer online tutoring?

  Yes. Mathnasium of Short Pump offers both in-center and online tutoring. Whether students attend sessions in person or online, they receive personalized, face-to-face instruction from the same specially trained tutors in a supportive and engaging group environment.

• Is there a difference between the cost of online and in-center math tutoring?

  No. Students who attend online receive the same high-quality instruction, personalized learning plans, and supportive environment as those who attend in person at our center.

• What math classes can your Short Pump tutors help with?

  We support students in grades K–12 across a range of math classes and topics, from early childhood math and arithmetic to Algebra and Geometry. 

  Working with our specially trained math tutors in Short Pump, students build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and improve academic performance.

• Is there a minimum age required to attend Mathnasium of Short Pump?

  At all Temple Ventures centers, we require students to be able to read well enough to work on their own, and to be able to stay focused for the duration of their hour-long visit. If a parent isn't sure whether their child is ready for Mathnasium, we're happy to talk with them and have them come in to the center for a trial visit. 

• What does mathematics tutoring cost at Mathnasium of Short Pump?

  Mathnasium of Short Pump provides premium value through a flat monthly membership and a one-time enrollment fee.  

  Most students attend two to three times per week. After a diagnostic assessment, we design a personalized learning plan with recommended session frequency based on your child’s goals.

• Is there a difference between the cost of online and in-center math tutoring at Mathnasium of Short Pump?

  No. The cost is the same whether your student attends sessions online, in person, or through a hybrid approach.

• Why do you require an assessment for enrollment?

  The purpose of the diagnostic assessment is to provide insight into the student’s current skill level, learning style, and unique goals. We use these insights to create a learning plan tailored to their specific needs, so they can truly understand math and build the skills they need to advance.

• How do you teach math? What curriculum do you use?

  At Mathnasium of Short Pump, we don’t use a fixed curriculum. Instead, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalized learning plans with proven instructional strategies. 

  Building upon what the student already knows, we add new concepts gradually, breaking them down into manageable steps to fill in their knowledge gaps, develop solid foundational skills, and even transform how they think and feel about math.

• Do you work with advanced students or with students who are struggling with math?

  Yes. We work with students at all skill levels, whether they are looking to catch up, keep up, or get ahead on their math journey.

  Students who are struggling with math receive focused instruction to strengthen core skills and boost confidence. Advanced students benefit from enrichment that encourages deeper exploration and long-term growth.

• Do you work with homeschooled students in Short Pump?

  Yes. We work with K–12 students from all educational settings, including homeschool, public, and private school families in Richmond.

• Do you help students with their math homework?

  Yes. Our tutors set aside time during sessions to help students with their math homework and ensure they understand the material they are covering in school.

• Does Mathnasium assign homework to students?

  No. All learning takes place during structured sessions with our specially trained tutors. We do not assign additional homework—students focus on making progress while they’re with us.

• Does Mathnasium of Short Pump prepare students for math on standardized tests?

  Yes, Mathnasium of Short Pump helps students prepare for math portions of standardized tests, including state assessments, ACT®, and SAT®.  

  Our test prep includes personalized instruction, targeted practice, and strategies to build the necessary skills and confidence.
