Do we need any other equipment?

At a minimum, your child will need an external mouse.

Not mandatory, but we recommend the following for an enhanced online learning experience for your child

  • Headphone, Mic and Webcam - In order to reduce distraction, we recommend students to use any basic or noise cancelling headphone with mic. Webcam, if not built in, is recommended. These will help them to interact with instructors in a holistic manner while working on math problems
  • Digital Draw Board - For non-touchscreen laptops / desktops, we recommend using WACOM board (PTH-651, PTH-660) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ZYte_UOVM) or Optical Pen Mouse (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbXH5FgYD84). Widely available in many stores like Staples, BestBuy, Amazon, these are USB based gadgets, that can help students to write on the screen similar to writing with pen on paper. (These are optional and most find that they can get by with the mouse just fine.)

Do students work on the same curriculum in Mathnasium@Home as we do at the centre?

Yes, students will work on the same material from the comfort of their home. They will work with instructors in real-time in the same way they work at our centre.

How will students get help with homework and test preparations?

We will provide a shared folder where parents / students can upload eithe a scanned copy or picture of their school material.  We will sync the image onto the online platform, where the student will work with the instructors online, similar to how they would work at our centre.

Can students use Mathnasium@Home along with learning at our centre?

We recommend Mathnasium@Home for any family where students will be away and not be able to come to the centre for 2 or more weeks because of travel or other circumstances. This program will enable them to continue the learning process and not lose touch. Switching between online and in-centre program for shorter duration is not available. We recommend not more than 2 switches within a school year.

Do students need their own email address to access Mathnasium@Home?

No, students can use a parent's email address in order to create an account login ID for access to Mathnasium@Home. However, each student will need a unique email address as login ID, so siblings will need a separate parent email address to login with.

Do we need to schedule the @Home sessions?  How do we schedule Mathnasium@Home?

Yes, we will need to schedule all online sessions.  Our online scheduler is located on our Schedule tab of the website.  Please reach out to us if you have trouble finding a time to suit your schedule.
