***UPDATE: CENTRE CLOSURE***

Mar 17, 2020 | Markham
Dear Parents & Guardians,

It is with my deepest apologies and concern for your families that effective as of March 17, 2020, Mathnasium of Markham is suspending instruction at the Centre. This was a very difficult decision to make, however due to the constantly evolving situation I believe this is the most ethical choice while keeping in mind that our first priority as a team is to support our students and their families in a safe and clean environment. It is for this reason that the situation will be addressed weekly, instead of closing indefinitely.

While we who know Mathnasium's program deeply understand that our service is essential to students, particularly while schools are suspended, regretfully, Mathnasium Centres are not considered members of the essential service category, and I feel it is important to respect the recommendations of our government. Mathnasium's Head Office has also advised all centre owners to take appropriate measures until the COVID-19 situation is more under control. In the interim, we will be performing a deep cleaning of our centre to make sure it is safe and clean for when we are ready to resume operations.

We understand that with school closures comes different levels of concern that students will fall behind, and so I am happy to announce that our team is working diligently to launch our Mathnasium@Home program; this is an online platform that has been under development with thousands of students over the past three years, and which allows us to deliver the same methods of instruction you know and trust, from the comfort and safety of your home. My hope is that this innovative platform will allow our students to maintain their momentum in the program until such time that it is safe to resume in-centre instruction. Sessions will be limited for Mathnasium@Home, and thus offered on a first come first serve basis.

There are a multitude of ways in which the current social climate can be viewed and handled, and I want to reassure you that both our Home Office and myself see the validity of these different viewpoints. This situation is as unprecedented for us as much as for you, and my goal is to make decisions that will be the most beneficial to each of your families, to the best of my ability, within the current climate. As such, I humbly ask parents to please keep in mind the difficulty and weight of making such decisions, and also for your patience as our team does its best to effectively navigate through these difficult times.

Rest assured that all pertinent updates will be posted as this situation evolves.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns, and I will do my best to address them.

Our team greatly appreciates your understanding and support, and we look forward to seeing everyone back again in the very near future.

Sincerely,
Charley Prusky
Owner & Centre Director
