Sr. Instructor
Ilena is a passionate math instructor with a diverse background. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary; after working as an engineer in the Energy industry for several years, her true passion for education led her to pursue a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, specializing in physical sciences with a minor in mathematics. Currently, Ilena serves as a substitute teacher with the Red Deer Public School District and the Calgary Board of Education, where she brings her rich academic background and real-world experience into the classroom. Ilena's unique blend of expertise, love for math, and curiosity for its diverse applications makes her an engaging and inspiring Mathnasium instructor.

Vinit is a Power Engineer at an integrated facilities company, and has a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as Petroleum Engineering diploma from SAIT. His passion to share his knowledge and to make students comfortable with math, was really what’s driven him to work at Mathnasium. Vinit was an experienced tutor before; he had been working as a professional math tutor for GRE/GMAT exams, and a part time math tutor helping high school students.

Raka, a graduate from Hunting Hills High School, is currently in his final year at the University of Alberta's School of Business, majoring in Accounting. He's also gaining practical experience as an intern at the global accounting firm RSM Canada. Raka knows from experience that being good at math could boost one’s confidence, not only in math but also in other subjects. He thinks that if Mathnasium had been around when he was younger, his math experience would have been more fun, and he could learn math smarter than harder. His passion for working with children led him to volunteer at an elementary school in Edmonton, where he taught subjects like math and music. He likes to play the drums, trumpet, guitar, and keyboard.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
