Meet the Team
Mayurah Thayaparan
Centre Director
Mayurah is an experienced educator with a passion for curriculum design and innovative education methods. Since joining Mathnasium in 2019, she has served as a Lead Instructor, Moderator, and now Centre Director. She believes the Mathnasium Method brings creativity and fun into learning and enjoys helping students find joy in math.
Outside of the centre, Mayurah leads STEM workshops that introduce kids and young adults to computer science and technology. Her mission is to inspire students to be genuinely excited, if not “crazy”, about math!
Dave
Instructor
Dave completed Specialist programs in both biology and physics at the University of Toronto. He enjoys using his academic background to help students excel in both math and science, while making the learning process fun and approachable.
His friendly energy and love of learning help him connect with students in meaningful ways. Outside of teaching, Dave loves basketball, pizza, and playing on his PlayStation.
Jim
Instructor
Jim studied physics and applied mathematics at the University of Western Ontario. He enjoys helping students understand complex topics by breaking problems into manageable parts. His approach focuses on clarity, patience, and logical reasoning.
When he’s not teaching, Jim enjoys outdoor adventures like cycling and camping, as well as relaxing with his guitar.
Ryan
Instructor
Ryan graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. During his studies, he often helped classmates understand challenging math concepts and enjoyed tutoring neighbourhood children. He brings that same passion for helping others learn to Mathnasium.
Ryan loves watching sports, movies, and TV shows, and playing video games. More than anything, he enjoys seeing the moment when students understand something new and helping them get there.

We introduce preschool and kindergarten learners to foundational math concepts through hands-on, playful instruction that builds number sense while fostering curiosity and confidence from the very start.
For students in grades 1–5, we focus on developing a solid understanding of concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, making math clear and enjoyable.
We help middle schoolers navigate classes like Prealgebra and Geometry by breaking down abstract ideas into manageable steps in a supportive environment where understanding and confidence grow.
High school students receive targeted support for Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and standardized math test prep that positions them for academic success and future college admissions opportunities.

The centre is easily accessible by TTC and offers both street and Green P parking for added convenience.

Mathnasium of The Beach supports students in any K–12 math course, including topics like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and more advanced subjects.
Our tutors follow personalized learning plans tailored to each student’s needs, helping them strengthen foundational skills, improve performance, and gain confidence in math.
We provide premium-value tutoring through a flat monthly membership and a one-time enrolment fee. Most students attend two to three sessions per week.

No, all instruction takes place during in-centre sessions. We do not assign additional homework, so students can stay focused and make progress while with us.
