If you're looking for ways to help your child grow their confidence, learn new skills, and earn a sense of accomplishment, all while reducing summer learning loss, the problem is easy to solve. The answer: innovation + exploration = Camp Mathnasium!

Kids can keep their math skills strong and let their creativity shine in summer activities as they dive into the exciting world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) projects, just some of the exciting opportunities at Camp Mathnasium with Mathnasium of Tri-Cities.

Each component of STEAM is valuable on its own, and together, they add up to a well-rounded approach to preparing children for the future.

When your child joins other curious young minds this summer, they'll not only have an immersive and stimulating learning experience with STEAM, but they can also have fun with games and puzzles, engage in financial literacy and the Power Math program.

"This is the second year we are running our summer camps, which will inspire curiosity and help kids improve essential STEAM skills through collaboration and problem-solving," says Anoma Mudalige, director of Mathnasium of Tri-Cities.

Mudalige notes that Camp Mathnasium is open to elementary school kids in Grades 1 to 5 and middle school kids in Grades 6 to 8, with daily activities that explore children’s curiosity and creativity in a fun and engaging environment.

Using the Mathnasium Method™, knowledgeable instructors leverage a unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques, and provide personalized instruction and interactions.

"All our instructors go through special training to teach different topics in a way that makes sense to the kids," reveals Mudalige. "By the end of the camp, we want to see the students have all improved, and have unleashed the inventor in them."

Real-world connection with STEAM projects

You might be surprised to know what a cybersecurity analyst, marine biologist, environmental consultant, forensic scientist, and doctor, all have in common. They're just some of the most interesting and in-demand careers that are rooted in STEAM subjects, especially notable for children who might be interested in exploring areas in math and sciences.

The STEAM camps are where kids' creativity and imagination can grow and innovative thinking can flourish. Students will develop their mindsets and experiences through challenges, problem-solving activities and group projects.

An exciting theme is introduced each day, which invites kids to explore inspiring lessons that prompt their curiosity with thought-provoking questions. They will develop their interpersonal skills as well as, presentation, communication, and teamwork.

"Our daily themes allow for very interactive activities so that kids get hands-on experience," explains Mudalige. "We design the activities to match the age group so they can learn in a fun and engaging environment."

Kids will be able to tap into their inventiveness and resourcefulness with these inspiring theme days:

  • Magical Creatures Monday: An exploration of living creatures
  • Fun with Physics Tuesday: Learn about basic physical properties, and explore the space "beyond the world"
  • Around the World Wednesdays: Giant structures & bridges
  • Financial Literacy Thursday: Plan your future
  • Real Reactions Friday: Fun with explosions

Level-up with Power Math

Power Math will stretch and exercise your child’s “math muscles” with a well-rounded learning experience, helping them build the strong foundation necessary for long-term math success.

"We offer two enrollments in our summer Power Math program," says Mudalige.

"We create customized learning plans to support every child's goal for what they want to achieve to make themselves confident to go into the next school year."

Whether your child is looking to catch up, get ahead, or simply deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts, the summer camps provide flexible schedules with the resources and expertise to help them succeed.

Mathnasium summer camps will better prepare kids for rewarding careers with strong math and STEAM skills. Your child could be one of the scientists, software developers, or inventors of tomorrow—who are excited about exploring math, technology and science today.

Camp Mathnasium is now enrolling for its weekly STEAM camps and Power Math programs. Dates: July 8-12, 15-19, 22-26. August: 5-9, 12-16, 19-23. Full-day camps: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Half-day camps: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Daily registration is also open.
