Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Wendy

Assistant Director

Hi! I'm Wendy and I'm super excited to be part of the team at Mathnasium! I absolutely love teaching math and am always amazed at how Mathnasium can dramatically build confidence and improve a child’s math experience. My favorite part of about teaching is the time spent connecting with each student in order to uniquely support them no matter where they are in the learning process.

I’m originally from the Detroit area and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Mathematics. I continued my education and earned a Masters degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. After nearly a decade working in the software industry as an application developer and product manager, I decided to step back from the corporate world to be a full time mom to my three amazing kids. In addition to spending time with my family, I love practicing and teaching yoga, dancing, photography, listening to live music, snuggling with my two dogs and spending time on the water.

James

Instructor

Hi there, I'm James! I moved to Denver from L.A. in 2021 along with the incredible love of my life, Bridgette. My favorite thing about Mathnasium is that it forces me to present the math I know in different ways to different brains. Each day presents the challenge of seeing familiar concepts through new eyes.

In my free time I enjoy playing video games, yoga, cooking, and playing video games (I really like video games). I'm desperately trying to also enjoy all the outdoor activities Coloradans seem to love, but still I remain very much an indoor cat.

Since graduating in 2007 from Harvey Mudd College with a degree in Mathematics I've had a myriad of jobs: from software developer to stage manager to salesman, but my work at Mathnasium has been the most immediately rewarding. To see right away the light of understanding on a student's face, the burst of confidence immediately after, or the improved test scores in the weeks that follow, has been truly invigorating.

Welcome to our Center! I'm excited to get to know you all a little better.

Jennifer

Instructor

Hi! My name is Jennifer. Tutoring math is my second career. I retired in December 2018 after over 20 years as a consulting electrical engineer for a local MEP design firm. Math has been an important part of what I do for my entire life. I loved it as a student, and had some tutoring experience from my college years, so Mathnasium is a great fit for me.

I'm originally from Kansas, and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Architectural Engineering. I'm still an avid KU men's basketball fan-- Go Jayhawks!! I'm an avid reader, love mysteries, and my goal is to read at least 100 books this year. I also love to cook, sing, and have many crafting hobbies. My husband and I have one dog--a crazy rescue Schnauzer mix named Toto.

Throughout my engineering career, one of my favorite things was mentoring a young engineer. The experience of sharing knowledge, and seeing the light "turn on" when a concept is grasped, is very rewarding. Tutoring at Mathnasium gives me the opportunity to experience that process with our students every day.

Ben

Instructor

Hi! I'm Ben and I'm a junior at Cherry Creek High School! Math is one of my favorite subjects and I love sharing it with others! While it is something I love, math isn't all I do in my free time. I also love to ski (Keystone is the BEST during the winter), I love to program interesting things, to hang out with my friends, and to go swimming as much as possible.

Teaching is something I've loved to do for a long time. It's always so amazing when the light-bulb goes of in someone's head as they understand a complex topic. I started out teaching programming at a summer camp in 2021 and I've been addicted ever since. I can't wait to help out at Mathnasium now and work with kids in all levels of math!

Pete

Instructor

Hi, everyone! I’m Pete and I am thrilled to be part of the Mathnasium Cherry Hills family! I love teaching young people math, making mathematics fun to learn, and helping students achieve their highest potential. Before joining Mathnasium, I was a classroom teacher for over 12 years here in Colorado teaching everything from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

I am an alumni of The University of Florida (Go Gators!) where I earned my undergraduate degree in Communications as well as Metropolitan State University where I obtained my Elementary Education teaching degree and licensure.

I have been married to a wonderful wife, Nancy, for over 30 years and am a proud father to our daughter, Brianna, who is attending Cal Poly Tech University for biomedical engineering. We also have three cats- Tom, Jerry, & Ivy (munchkin) who run the house we have owned in Northwest Denver for over 20 years. We love everything Colorado including snowsports, hiking, and camping. Our family enjoys traveling as well so we get to the beach as often as we can. You can’t beat the Florida Gulf Coast beaches! My other hobbies include reading, going to concerts, playing pickleball, and attending live sporting events. I am almost as passionate about all of our Colorado sports teams as I am teaching!

Thank you all for letting me be a part of your kids’ education at Mathnasium where they can thrive in a fun learning environment!

Kili

Director of Happiness
Hi! My name is Kili and I am the resident Director of Happiness. I enjoy some cuddles and will play with toys all day long! I'll happily show you my donut when you come in, especially if you throw it for me. I come to work with my mom, Sierra, every day so you can look for me to brighten up your day whenever you come in!

Ian

Instructor

Hey there, I’m Ian! Recently moved to Denver from Indianapolis in 2023. Being a part of the Mathnasium team is truly a blessing. Being able to spread the joy of math in fun, creative ways to the youth, is something I’m truly passionate about.

In addition to working here, I’m also a full time engineer currently working as an EDGE Leadership Development Associate at Rockwell Automation. So, math is definitely something that is very important on a daily basis for me. I’m a 2020 retired track athlete graduating from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN. I received my bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, minor in Mathematics. Then in 2021 received my MBA with a focus in Engineering Management.

In my free time I enjoy working out, traveling, community service, playing video games, exploring new restaurants, and recently picked up snowboarding! Then, of course, my number one hobby is spending time with my overzealous mini goldendoodle named Izy. Between work and my personal life, I stay pretty busy, but I enjoy every moment of it, especially when doing the things I love can make such a huge impact on the future.

Nyah

Instructor

Hi my name is Nyah and I am a sophomore in college attending the CU Denver campus. Tutoring is my second place of work, as I also work with kids on the spectrum. I am the oldest of three brothers, meaning I have always been the one to help my younger siblings with their math homework. I was born and raised in Colorado and graduated in 2019 from Vista Peak.

I have always had a passion for numbers and solving equations, as math has always been one of my favorite subjects. I’m devoted to assisting this new and upcoming generation in helping them to build their skills. My goal is to help as many students as I can by enriching and advancing their knowledge within the subject of math.

When not at work or school, I can usually be found curled up somewhere with a video game in hand or out on adventures with my friends. I also enjoy sketching and painting when I can find the time and inspiration. While I’m not as artistic as I’d like to be, I always love to see what my mind manages to create onto paper. When I do manage to sit down and draw, I tend to prefer pencil over paint; the thought of not being able to use an eraser makes me nervous. I always find myself most at ease when I am focused on a drawing and listening to music aloud in my bedroom.

Joelle

Instructor

Hi, I’m Joelle! I’m currently a senior at Cherry Creek High School and my favorite subjects are math and science! Math is fun to me because it’s like a puzzle, and science helps me better understand the world around me. I’m a huge STEM nerd and I love any and all things robotics!

In my free time, I enjoy practicing guitar and playing video games with my friends. I’ve had a lot of teaching experience with other volunteer organizations where I’ve taught different subjects and also Computer Science. I can’t wait to meet you all and help make math more fun!

Micah

Instructor

Hi, I’m Micah, I'm in high school at Thomas Jefferson. I am personally enthusiastic about math, and hope my work can help to spread its beautiful nuance, through proof and intuition. It is my mission to help my students achieve a complex understanding and love of mathematics. Currently, I am learning differential equations, and I am excited to move forward in my mathematical education.

When I am not working, you will find me both road and mountain biking, building and coding robots for my school’s SpartaRobotic 3648 team, cooking various dishes, and you guessed it, doing math for fun! If you’re lucky you may even catch me biking or unicycling to work as I often do.

I hope to meet you soon!

Brian

Instructor

Hello! My name is Brian and I moved from Illinois to Colorado about six years ago. I graduated from Valor Christian High School in 2022 and am currently a student at Colorado Christian University where I am studying Politics and Computer Science. I’ve always enjoyed my math classes and am excited to share it with others. I appreciate the complexities, patterns, and order we find in math and love being able to teach it to others.

In my free time, I enjoy snowboarding, playing video games with my friends, and listening to my favorite podcasts. My favorite spot to snowboard is Copper Mountain where I spend most of my time in the trees.
