Sierra
Center Director
Hi! My name is Sierra Richards and I have the privilege of being the Center Director of Mathnasium of Cherry Hills. I have loved teaching ever since I discovered Mathnasium in 2012 where I have worked in various roles, gaining a deep understanding of student needs. After earning a Mechanical Engineering degree from Colorado School of Mines, I realized my true passion was education, not engineering.
Beyond teaching, I adore animals—my dogs, Kili and Winter, even come to work with me! I’m also an avid reader and writer, hoping to publish my own stories someday. Every student is different, and I love making learning fun while helping them build confidence in math and beyond.
James
Assistant Director
I moved to Denver from L.A. in 2021 with the love of my life, Bridgette. Since graduating from Harvey Mudd College with a Mathematics degree, I’ve held many jobs—from software developer to stage manager—but nothing has been as immediately rewarding as teaching at Mathnasium. Seeing a student’s “aha” moment never gets old!
Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, cooking, and video games (a lot of video games). I’m still working on embracing Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle, but for now, I remain an indoor cat. I look forward to getting to know all the students and families at Mathnasium!
Ben
Instructor
Hi! I’m a senior at Cherry Creek High School, and math has always been one of my favorite subjects. I love sharing that passion with others and helping students reach their own “light-bulb” moments. I started teaching programming at a summer camp in 2021 and have been hooked on teaching ever since!
Outside of Mathnasium, I enjoy skiing (Keystone is the best in winter!), programming, swimming, and spending time with friends. I’m excited to work with students of all levels and help them build confidence in math!
Daniel
Instructor
Hello all! My name is Daniel and I am a newer resident to Colorado. Originally from Texas, I earned my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Science with a minor in Physics from Texas State University, along with my teaching certification. I'm both a scientist and a teacher by profession—and a nerdy musician in my free time! I play guitar, trumpet, and bass.
Math didn’t click for me until I took physics and realized it’s a powerful tool for understanding the world. Now, I hope to help students see the hidden beauty of math. Also, I love RPGs—because watching numbers get bigger is always fun!
Jennifer
Instructor
Hi! My name is Jennifer. After over 20 years as a consulting electrical engineer, I retired in 2018 and found my second career in tutoring math—something I’ve loved since my student days. I earned my degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas and remain a proud Jayhawks basketball fan!
One of my favorite parts of engineering was mentoring young professionals, and now, I get to experience that same joy at Mathnasium—helping students grasp new concepts and build confidence. Outside of math, I love reading mysteries (aiming for 100 books this year!), cooking, singing, and crafting.
Saladin
Instructor
Hello! My name is Saladin, and I’m a former 5th grade teacher at Aurora Public Schools. I graduated from University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing and a Master’s in Elementary Education. I’m originally from Los Angeles, where I fell in love with all types of performing, and moved to Denver in 2010. I performed improv with the Circo de Nada production group, performed for 5 years as a cast member in the Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Company, and I currently play drums for two local bands: To Be Astronauts and Soy Celeste. Most importantly, I was the Denver Air Guitar champion in 2020, 2022, and 2023 (I promise, it’s a real thing, and it’s amazing).
In my spare time (ha!) I read a bunch, write a bunch, and play Magic: the Gathering and other needlessly complex games. I’m working on creating a couple games of my own with the EnCompass Improv business. I feel like games are the gateway to almost any emotion, and, when done correctly, can bring out the best in people. I live in South Denver with my beautiful girlfriend and our *very* spoiled cat.
Cooper
Instructor
Hey, I’m Cooper, and I am a student at Cherry Creek High School. I have always felt myself drawn to the field of mathematics and its amazing applications. I am currently taking Differential Equations, Introduction to Real Analysis, and researching Markov chains and stochastic processes. The further along I get in my understanding of math, the more I come to appreciate its elegance, sophistication, and increasingly important place in our daily lives.
Outside of work and the classroom, I spend my time programming, volunteering, playing basketball, and doing things with my friends and family. I especially enjoy watching movies (David Fincher films are some of my favorites), and often lose much of my day to them.
I have always loved tutoring, and I find it to be some of the most gratifying work I do. I can’t wait to extend my love for math, and aid in the development of amazing math skills, to whomever I can!
