Morgan Jemmali, Center Director
Mo is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Eugene. Prior to opening the center, Mo's managerial experience includes Financial Manager at Sundance Natural Foods & Wine Cellars, Marketing Manager at Blue Lake Casino, and in the online education (e-Learning) industry: Item Development Manager at Avant Assessment, and Rater Manager at Diglossia. He also launched 2 language programs at 2 universities, a newspaper, a food truck, 2 restaurants, and a polling website. In CA, Mo earned a Bachelor in Finance, an MBA in Sustainability, a Minor in Computers, and a teaching certificate, prior to teaching at the University of Oregon for 4 years. Having benefited from years of math tutoring as a child, Mo is enthusiastic about helping every child in the Eugene-Springfield community to truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them. He has taught and coached children of all ages for over 2 decades, and he is committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to the children in his community. Mo is fluent in 5 languages, and has 2 kids in the French immersion programs at Roosevelt Middle School and South Eugene High School. He also coaches tennis at Eugene YMCA and soccer at Eugene Timbers, and plays 2 musical instruments at public events.
Sarah Fuller, Instructor
Sarah earned a scholarship after graduating from high school in AZ in the top 5% of her class of over 600 students with 3.9 GPA, and is a Council Member of the National Honors Society, and an AP Scholar with Honors. She is now pursuing a degree in Architecture at the University of Oregon. Prior to joining our A+ center upon her arrival to OR, Sarah had to end 2.5 years of tutoring math at Kumon in AZ, where she also volunteered at a theatre program that performs for local nursing homes. Sarah knows the importance of a positive learning environment and wants every child to reach their full potential. She enjoys spending her free time baking, painting, and playing with her dogs.
Emilia Murphy, Instructor
Emilia graduated from high school in CA, and was tutoring at Mathnasium in her hometown for 7 months, before the center temporarily closed its doors due to the pandemic. Now, Emilia is pursuing a degree in Biology at the University of Oregon, in hopes to become an Infectious Disease Pathologist. "Math is something I find peace in. I love working with kids and helping them achieve mastery over topics they felt were impossible." In her free time, Emilia likes to surf, rock climb, paint, and make music.
Jesse Pearce, Instructor
Born and raised in Eugene, Jesse graduated from South Eugene High School with a 4.0 GPA as an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Commended Student. She currently attends Barnard College of Columbia University. When she's not tutoring math, Jesse is a Director at Respect(Ed) Peer Education Program. She greatly enjoys working with young people, and believes that learning should be an engaging experience. "I like math because I sees it like a puzzle, where the goal is to gain new understanding." In her free time, Jesse enjoys writing short fiction, surfing, whitewater kayaking, and performing aerial acrobatics.
Kiara Skalnes, Summer Instructor
Kiara graduated from South Eugene as a member of the National Honors Society, and received the State Honors Recognition. She is enrolled in Barnard College of Columbia University to earn a degree in Computer Science and its applications to medicine. Kiara has spent most of her high school career working with children seeking asylum in her community through JusticeKids, a non-profit organization that she founded. She was also the secretary of South Eugene's Theater and was on South’s cross country team for 2 years. In her free time, Kiara likes to bake, read books, and play tennis with her mom.
Kiwi White, Summer Instructor
Kiwi graduated from South Eugene with the National Honors Society, and was a National Merit Commended Scholar, an AP Scholar with Honors, and a 4J Honors Diploma recipient. Due to the pandemic, she transferred from the University of Michigan to attend the Oregon State University Honors College and pursue a major in Pre Med Chemistry. During high school, Kiwi took Multivariable Calculus at the University of Oregon, and was the Vice President of South Eugene's American Red Cross club. Having played the piano for 13 years, she also received 5 awards from the Oregon Music Teachers Association. Kiwi worked with kids in her high school's daycare, and while on her school's basketball team, she also helped host basketball camps for children. Kiwi likes math because she enjoys how it has many important practical implications for life and the planet, and believes that, when given the right help, every child can discover a love for math.
