Q: What makes Mathnasium different from other tutoring centers?
A: As a single-subject tutoring service, we can offer intentional and direct help with math. Mathnasium instructors teach using the Mathnasium Method, which focuses on resolving the root of missing fundamental skills. Our staff aims to build a fun, positive environment that allows students to thrive. We try to have our students leave every session with a smile on their face. Our after-school hours, both in-person and online, give students the opportunity to attend without giving up their Friday or Saturday evenings!
Q: Why would you encourage parents to consider Mathnasium?
A: Each student at Mathnasium has a customized learning plan fit for their needs. We work through this plan with them in a no-pressure environment where students work at their necessary pace to succeed. Students earn cards when they complete enough math, and can spend these cards on items from the prize cabinet, or even get gift cards for themselves! There are a lot of opportunities for each student to thrive at Mathnasium.
Q: How often do students get re-assessed?
A: After their initial assessment, a student's follow-up assessment is scheduled about 3 months after. Should the student finish their learning plan earlier, they will re-assess at that point. Some students move up to the next grade level within these 3 months! A public school year of math is about 160 hours, whereas 3 months at Mathnasium is 30 hours. It is amazing seeing the progress of so many students in such a relatively short amount of time!
