Local Mathnasium Celebrates 5 Years in Campbell

Nov 10, 2014 | Campbell-Los Gatos

What does math, smiling kids, door prizes, Honorable Mayor of Campbell Rich Waterman, and proud parents have to do with each other? They all were part of Mathnasium of Campbell-Los Gatos’ 5th Anniversary celebration held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Pruneyard Plaza on Saturday, November 8, 2014!

The event was kicked off with a speech by Liam, Mathnasium of Campbell-Los Gatos’ very first student (she started Mathnasium on the day it opened, September 1, 2009!), who is still part of the Mathnasium family today. This was followed by the presentation of medals to the winners of the annual 2014 TriMathlon competition by the Honorable Mayor of Campbell, Rich Waterman. The kids were all smiles as they received their awards. Next, there was a very special fencing demonstration done by one of Mathnasium’s own students, Jared. Three lucky students won a package of six introductory fencing classes each, courtesy of Academy of Fencing Masters, located in Campbell.

Along with being a fencing master, Jared is also a Mathnasium master. He has received 1,741 “star punches” through the course of his Mathnasium attendance so far. This means that he has completed 1,741 Mathnasium Prescriptive worksheets to date. Because of this, on Saturday he was presented with Mathnasium of Campbell-Los Gatos’ first ever gold binder. He is now a Mathlete Level 4. The evening concluded with a delicious cake from Sugar Butter Flour, a Campbell bakery located in the Pruneyard Plaza.

At the end of it all, students and parents left with minds enriched and smiles wide, bursting with pride for Mathnasium of Campbell-Los Gatos and its success through the course of these 5 years.
