Larry Martinek, known as “The Man Behind the Method,” is the Chief Instructional Officer of Mathnasium Learning Centers. Beloved for his storytelling, passion for teaching, and signature ponytail, Larry has dedicated his life to helping students truly understand and enjoy math.
Before co-founding Mathnasium in 2001, Larry taught in public and private schools, gang intervention programs, and gifted youth groups. Together with his son Nic, Larry wrote the original Mathnasium curriculum. After Nic passed away at just 15 years old, Mathnasium became a living legacy of their work together—one that continues to change how math is taught and learned around the world.
