SAT Hybrid Test Prep Program

SAT Test Prep is designed for students who have mastered Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry and are ready to focus on Mathnasium test-taking strategies and a customized test-preparation plan based on a Test Prep Assessment.

However, we have seen a growing need for our SAT Hybrid Program because many high school students preparing for the SAT have not yet mastered the foundational concepts in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. At Mathnasium, every student's learning plan is customized. While the Hybrid Program does not cover every single concept in these subjects, we can provide an accelerated three-month remediation plan in each area to help students close critical gaps before transitioning into SAT Test Prep.

From Pre-Algebra Gaps to SAT Readiness.

Our SAT Hybrid Plan is designed for exactly these students.

Rather than placing a student into a generic SAT program and hoping the gaps work themselves out, we build the student's mathematics in stages.

Pre-Algebra → Algebra I → Algebra II/Advanced Math → SAT Test Prep

Each stage is assessment-based and customized to the individual student.

Our Mathnasium SAT Hybrid Plan is designed specifically for these students.

It combines targeted math remediation with a comprehensive SAT Test Prep program so students can build the skills they need before they are expected to perform at the SAT level.

Why Choose Mathnasium for SAT Prep?

  • Personalized Learning Plan – Every student begins with a comprehensive SAT Math assessment to identify strengths and weaknesses.

  • Expert-Designed Curriculum – Built by math specialists to ensure students master underlying skills, not just test-taking tricks.

  • Targeted Skill Development – Focus on exactly what your student needs to improve.

  • Practice with the Digital SAT – Includes periodic practice exams

  • Live Face-to-Face Instruction – Experienced instructors provide support, accountability, and individualized teaching.

  • Daily Session Summaries – Parents receive an email after each session

A 10-Month Path to SAT Readiness

Phase 1: Pre-Algebra Remediation —

3 Months Accelerated  8–10 sessions per month

  • Students complete a Pre-Algebra Assessment, which allows our system to create a customized Learning Plan based on the specific skills they need to develop.

  • This is not a generic Pre-Algebra course. A student does not simply open a book to a random page and begin working.

  • We identify the skills that are missing, determine what the student already understands, and focus instruction where it will have the greatest impact.

  • The standard Pre-Algebra progam at Mathnasium can take anywhere from 5 - 7 months.

Phase 2: Algebra I Remediation —

3 Months  8–10 sessions per month

  • Once the foundational gaps are addressed, students move into targeted Algebra I development.

  • Students complete an Algebra I Assessment, allowing Mathnasium to build the next customized portion of their Learning Plan.

  • The goal is not to reteach an entire Algebra I course unnecessarily. Instead, we focus on the concepts and skills the individual student needs to become more confident, accurate, and efficient.

  • The standard Algebra I progam at Mathnasium can take anywhere from 5 - 7 months.

Phase 3: Algebra II / Advanced Math Readiness

3 Months | 8–10 sessions per month

This is the critical bridge to SAT-level mathematics.

Before beginning SAT Test Prep, students need the opportunity to develop the higher-level algebraic skills that appear frequently on the SAT.

An Algebra II Assessment is used to identify the student's specific needs and create a customized Learning Plan.

The standard Algebra II progam at Mathnasium can take anywhere from 5 - 7 months.

Phase 4: SAT Test Prep Assessment

After completing the foundational remediation phases, students take a Test Prep Assessment.

This assessment helps us determine whether the student is ready to transition into SAT preparation and identifies the areas that should receive the greatest attention during the SAT program.

Phase 5: SAT Test Prep — 4 Months
32 sessions | 90 minutes each | 2 sessions per week

The final phase is our dedicated SAT Test Prep program.

Students receive 32 customized 90-minute sessions over four months, meeting twice per week. Instruction focuses on the mathematical skills, strategies, accuracy, efficiency, and problem-solving techniques needed for the SAT.

Because the student's foundational gaps have already been addressed, the SAT preparation can focus on performing, rather than constantly stopping to reteach prerequisite mathematics.

The Mathnasium SAT Hybrid Plan

The Bottom Line

If your student has gaps in foundational math, we want to address those gaps before asking them to perform at the SAT level.

The Hybrid Plan gives families a clear, structured pathway from “I'm not ready for SAT math” to “I'm ready to take the test.”

At Mathnasium, we meet students where they are, create a plan based on what they actually need, and build the skills necessary to move them forward.

SAT or ACT Test Prep FAQ

  • What does Mathnasium’s test prep program include?

Our math test prep program is designed to give high school students the knowledge and tools needed to excel on the SAT and ACT. Students will attend two 90-minute sessions per week for three months, working with our expert tutors and proprietary test-prep materials to sharpen their skills.

  • What makes Mathnasium’s standardized test prep program different?

Our test prep program focuses exclusively on building math skills. We provide individualized instruction and proprietary test prep materials specifically designed for the SAT and ACT to help students excel. Our tutors prioritize true understanding, helping them master the math rather than relying on test-taking tricks. This will pay off both on test day and in their postsecondary education.

  • How does Mathnasium prepare students for SAT & ACT math?

Before starting the sessions, we conduct a diagnostic assessment to identify your student's strengths and areas for improvement. This enables us to tailor the sessions to focus on the specific topics they need to work on. Additionally, during the sessions, students will be given proprietary practice questions that reflect the style and rigor of the SAT and ACT.

  • Is there any difference between Mathnasium’s online and in-center SAT & ACT math tutoring?

No, there isn’t. Students who choose to join Mathnasium online will receive the same quality of live, face-to-face instruction and even work with the same tutors they would meet at their local learning center.

  • What’s the difference between DSAT and SAT?

The Digital SAT (DSAT) is the new version of the SAT that transforms the testing experience from the traditional paper-and-pencil format to a digital one. Starting in spring 2024, the DSAT will be taken on approved devices like Windows or Mac computers, iPads, or school-managed Chromebooks.

Here are some of the standout features of the DSART:

    • Digital-First: Instead of a paper-and-pencil test, students will use a special app called Bluebook™ designed by the College Board.
    • Adaptive Design: The DSAT adapts to how students perform. The more questions they answer correctly, the tougher the next ones become.
    • Streamlined Format: The test is shorter—only 2 hours and 24 minutes. The Reading and Writing sections are combined into one, and there are separate Math sections.
  • Can I enroll in this program even if I'm not currently a Mathnasium student?

Absolutely! Our test prep program is open to all high school students, whether they are current Mathnasium students or new students looking for math support.

  • How can I enroll?

Enrolling is easy! Just follow these steps:

    1. Complete the form at the top of the page.
    2. Expect a call from an education specialist to discuss your needs.
    3. Attend weekly sessions.
