Evan
Center Director
Hello! My name is Evan Skog, Center Director at Mathnasium. After five years in restaurant management, I returned to my true passion—helping students experience “Aha!” moments in math. I believe math, like any skill, improves with practice, and I love showing students they can succeed.
I originally studied Percussion at UNC Greeley but switched to Math after realizing my passion for education. Outside of Mathnasium, I enjoy composing music, reading, playing board games, and exploring the Rockies. I’m excited to help students build confidence and discover the joy of learning!
Jeff
Assistant Center Director
While serving as a 4th-grade math educator with Teach for America in Memphis, Tennessee, I rekindled a love for mathematics and came to understand the need for individualized tutorship. That is why I joined Mathnasium of Cherry Creek. Mathnasium fosters that same curiosity-driven learning, and I love that I’m always learning as much as the students!
I have a soft spot for variant base numerical systems (those crazy Babylonians). When I’m not diving into math, I’m reading, playing Dungeons & Dragons, or working toward my goal of becoming a published author.
Favorite math joke? What do you call a group of friends who love math? Algebros!

Hi! I’m a math student at CU Denver with a love for numbers, fashion, and cooking—there’s no better feeling than creating the perfect dish!
Mathnasium feels like home because of the amazing students and supportive environment. Seeing their positivity and dedication makes every day rewarding.
My favorite number is 139—it follows a perfect pattern with powers of 3 and is prime (just like 3!). Outside of math, I enjoy playing the ukulele (self-taught!) and writing songs. In five years, I’ll be graduating with my Master of Science in Mathematics!

Originally from Peru and raised in Connecticut, I’m currently a PhD student in neuroscience at CU Anschutz. When I’m not studying, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, and playing The Sims 4—my goal is to collect every pack so I can build the cutest homes!
I love teaching at Mathnasium and find it incredibly rewarding to see students grow in their math skills. My favorite number is 2 (mostly because it just makes sense to me, and I like writing it fancy). Fun fact: I own two snakes! In five years, I hope to be defending my PhD thesis.

About me: My name is Alex and I am currently a junior at East High School. Throughout my academic journey, I have always loved math. In elementary school I helped run the Math Olympiad team, In middle school I took advanced math classes and studied on the side, and in high school so far I've taken the hardest classes I can. Apart from loving math, I play Ultimate Frisbee, run Cross Country, and absolutely love to play music (mainly piano and saxophone, but I've been trying to learn the drums recently as well). In my free time I like to spend quality time with friends and family.
Why I love working at Mathnasium: I like working at mathnasium because I love the feeling of helping someone understand a new concept or think about things in a different way. I love when I get to see that Aha moment that happens when a student finally understands something they've been struggling with.
Favorite number: My favorite number is 104,729 because it is the 10,000th prime number, and I think it rolls off the tounge nicely.
Fun fact about myself: A fun fact about me is that I can solve a Rubik's cube in about 30 seconds.
In 5 years I'll be... I will be a senior in College hopefully close to obtaining a degree that I'm excited about and ready to continue my life after college.

About me: Hi! I’m a student at South High School. Outside of teaching at Mathnasium I’m also a competitive dancer and I like the arts in general. I love spending time with my friends and family. In my free time I also love watching sports like F1 and Football, making jewelry, or going to concerts!
Why I love working at Mathnasium: I enjoy working at mathnasium because it is very rewarding and fun to teach kids. I also love getting to meet people with many different interests and personalities.
Favorite Number: My favorite number is 8 because my birthday is 6/18/08 so I was born on the 18th and my birth year is 2008.
Fun fact about myself: I love fashion and I would like to learn how to make my own clothes.
In 5 years, I'll be... Hopefully I will be in my senior year of college!

About me: At the start of 2023, I had undergone some major life changes. I graduated high school and community college, as well as moved out of my old home. From my experiences in high school, I found fulfillment through leadership positions in after school activities such as TSA (Technology Student Association), Quiz Bowl / NAQT, and Drama club. Where I could work with my younger peers, finding mutual growth and learning from our time together. Eventually, I found Mathnasium. Here, I strive to continue these shared learning and teaching relationships with our students!
Favorite number: 1,024 is my favorite number! I find it difficult to choose only one number as a favorite, but 1,024 encompasses my favorite single-digit numbers, 0,1,2, and 4.
Favorite math joke: Of all the primes, 2 is the oddest!
Fun fact: A “jiffy” is an actual unit of time! While its had a few different definitions over the years, chemistry and physics often define it as the time it takes for light to travel a centimeter, or 3.336 x 10^-11 seconds.
My hobbies include: Spending time with my cats! They provide excellent company as I enjoy hobbies such as reading, journaling, solving puzzles, or watching movies.
Favorite math topic: Sequences. Describing the pattern, or “rule,” to find the next number in a sequence is a satisfying way to translate mathematical thinking into words for others to understand.
Students can take 3 easy steps to enroll at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and what they need to learn moving forward.
