Michelle is the owner and Center Director at Mathnasium of Converse, which has proudly served local families for more than six years. Before opening the center, she spent 24 years teaching at the elementary level and earned both an MBA in Educational Administration from Lamar University and a BS in Elementary Education from Southwest Texas State University.
Having struggled with math as a child, Michelle is passionate about helping students truly understand math in a way that makes sense to them. She believes every child deserves to feel confident and capable when learning math.
Laney is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is studying neuroscience. She has lived in the area her entire life and enjoys giving back to the community by helping students grow more confident in math. Her 12 years as a Girl Scout taught her patience, perseverance, and teamwork, qualities she brings to each lesson.
Laney loves creating a supportive environment where learning feels rewarding. Her favorite math joke is, “Are monsters good at math? Not unless you Count Dracula!” She enjoys seeing students discover that same spark of confidence in themselves.
Joseph is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Originally from Honolulu, he now calls Texas home. Outside of work and school, he enjoys video games, 3D printing, and Star Trek. He has a great sense of humor and brings enthusiasm to everything he does.
Joseph enjoys helping students find clarity and confidence in math. He jokes that while he is tall, he is terrible at basketball, but he always gives his best effort. He hopes to one day work as a design engineer while continuing to share his love of problem solving.
Mack is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in computer science. A Texas native, he is passionate about cybersecurity and hopes to one day work in government service. He has traveled widely and brings curiosity and perspective to his teaching.
Mack has been a black belt in karate since the age of four and applies the same focus and determination to his work at Mathnasium. His favorite math joke is, “Why did the obtuse angle go to the beach? Because it was over 90 degrees.”
Rolando is a sophomore at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He lived in Chicago before moving to Texas in 2022. He wants to attend UTSA to major in Architecture or Engineering. He enjoys running, biking, and being outdoors.

Mia is a senior at Samuel Clemens High School. She has lived in Texas her whole life. She wants to go to the University of Texas at Austin to major in Biology. She enjoys reading, painting, and spending time around friends.

Amy is a retired high school math teacher with 28 years of experience, teaching in San Antonio ISD, Alamo Heights ISD and Northside ISD. She was born and raised in San Antonio, and is looking forward to helping kids find the excitement in mathematics!

Antonio is a senior at Randolph High School. He’s a military kid and has moved around a lot. He’s lived in Texas for 5 years. He’s hoping to study chemical engineering or physics in college.

Chris is a passionate instructor who is studying computer science online through WGU, before that he was living in similarly sunny Jacksonville Florida enjoying the beach.

Felipe is a student at post graduate Masters student from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and born and raised in San Antonio

Iván is an international Physics student who is currently working on his thesis in order to graduate from college. Even though his degree is not education orientated, he would like to become a full time teacher some day.

Ayesha is an alum of St. Edward’s University, where she studied math, and she has a PhD in computational bio-physics from Case Western Reserve University. She spends her free time reading, writing her Dungeons & Dragons campaign, and dabbling in Data Science.

Ted was a middle and high school mathematics teacher for 13 years and has worked in mathematics assessment since 2002. Ted grew up and taught in California and relocated to Texas in 2005. Ted enjoys spending his free time pampering and snuggling with his three cats and getting fresh air and exercise by walking.

Vincent is a sophomore at Northeast Lakeview pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. Vincent enjoys spending his free time bowling and playing video games. He enjoys astronomy and physics. Vincent was Oklahoma born and Texas raised.

I love Mathnasium because: I enjoy engaging with the kids and teaching math. I think the satisfaction of seeing the tutoring pay off is really rewarding.
