Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Erin

Center Director
Erin is a recent graduate of the University of Utah with a BS in Biology. She is focused on attending Occupational Therapy school in the fall. Along with teaching at Mathnasium, Erin works at Oakdale Elementary as a reading interventionist. She likes sewing, the TV show Glee, and helping kids learn math.

Baurak

Lead Instructor
Baurak is a current student at the University of Utah, majoring in Math Teaching with a minor in Physics Teaching. He loves showing people how fun math can be and hopes more people can learn to love math! In his free time, Baurak likes to spend time with friends and family, playing games, and reading lots of science fiction and fantasy books.

Emma S.

Lead Instructor
Emma is a student at the University of Utah. Her favorite subject has been math since 6th grade. She enjoys all kinds of arts and crafts, especially making to-scale miniatures. Her major is undeclared, but she has interests in structural engineering, miniature sculpture, and the design fields of theatre. In addition, she has enjoyed her volunteer and humanitarian work in the Salt Lake valley, Nepal, and Peru. She loves spending time with kids and helping them recognize how capable they all are.

Addie

Instructor
Addie is currently a junior at Skyline High School. She is taking AP Calculus this year and she loves math. She loves hiking and being outdoors, and she plays piano and clarinet. She is excited to spend her time teaching math!

Bob

Instructor
Bob is a mechanical engineer, he graduated from Rose Polytechnic institute in 1956. He spent the majority of his professional career in composite structures and technology development for Hercules. He enjoys his 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Diana

Instructor
Diana will be a senior this year at Brighton High School. Having just finished AP Calculus and planning to take AP Statistics, she loves learning math and helping others understand it too. In her free time, she likes to make music, walk, play with siblings, and teach English.

Emery

Instructor
Emery is currently a sophomore at Brighton High School. She is a year ahead, currently taking Secondary Math Honors III. She has always enjoyed math and teaching it to others. She also plays lacrosse for the Brighton team. In her free time, she loves reading and listening to music.

Emily

Instructor
Emily is a junior at Hillcrest High School who is taking IB math HL 1. She loves math and enjoys breaking down subjects to help students excel academically. Emily is particularly invested in the health sciences and plans to pursue a career in the medical field. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and watching movies.

Emma E.

Instructor
Emma is a junior at Brighton High School currently taking AP Calculus BC. She has always had a love for math, and enjoys helping others succeed. In her free time she enjoys playing guitar, singing, and performing with her band.

Heidi

Instructor
Heidi is currently a student at the University of Utah majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She has a passion for the medical field and a love for all things math and science. She wants to help kids gain the same love for learning and build their confidence in their math skills. When not working or at school, she loves to be outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, and camping. She also enjoys reading and watching movies and tv shows with her husband.

Ian

Instructor
Ian is currently a student at the University of Utah studying piano and music composition. He took AP Calculus and Physics in high school, and planned to pursue a STEM career before switching to music. When he’s not making music or doing math, Ian enjoys cooking, skiing, and Minecraft.

Jackie

Instructor
Jackie is a sophomore at the University of Utah majoring in math with a minor in documentary filmmaking. She has always loved math, and is excited to share that with others. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing basketball, and being outdoors.

Jenna

Instructor
Jenna is a junior at Skyline High School. She took AP Calculus sophomore year and is currently taking AP Statistics this year. At school, Jenna is Vice-President of the SheTech Club and Treasurer for the Technology Student Association. In her free time, she enjoys coding little passion projects, playing video games, and spending time with her family.

Jessica

Instructor
Jessica graduated from Bennett College for Women with a BS in Mathematics and North Carolina A&T with a MS in Industrial & Systems Engineering. Although she works full time at an oil and gas company, she’s always had a passion for teaching math. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her loved ones.

Kate

Instructor
Kate attended Utah State University, studying Mathematics. Since then, they have been volunteering their time reverse-engineering and simulating computer systems, while writing technical summaries for the community.

Lia

Instructor
Lia is a soon to be senior at Brighton High School and plans to take AP Statistics in the fall. Math has always been one of her favorite subjects, and she loves to help others who have a hard time with the subject. In her free time, Lia enjoys running on Brighton's track and cross country teams, hiking, skiing, and reading.

Lily

Instructor
Lily is a current student at the University of Utah studying Chemical Engineering. With a hope to go into the biotech industry, she has always loved seeing how math and science can help people. Outside of school, she enjoys playing the violin, hiking, sailing, and beating her friends in pickleball.

Maggie

Instructor
Maggie is currently a high school student at Waterford. Math has always been a subject of interest for her, and she's always happy to lend a hand to her classmates who are having a hard time with it. At school, she spends her time with the Ethics and Model UN team. In her free time, Maggie pursues a variety of interests, including dance, skiing, and playing the piano. Maggie plans to focus on math and science in college.

Makenna

Instructor
Makenna is a freshman at Utah Valley University, her major is undeclared, but she has interests in the fields of computer science, visual arts, and psychology. She was enrolled in Math 1040 in high school, and enjoys problem solving and logical thinking. In her free time, she loves to draw, read, horseback ride, and play video games.

Nicole

Instructor
Nicole is currently a Sophomore at the University of Utah studying Computer Science. Math has always been a passion of hers, and she loves helping people find their math ah-ha moment. She also loves reading and cooking in her free time.

Raegan

Instructor
Raegan is a junior at Brighton High School who is taking AP Calculus. Math has always been fun for her and she enjoys helping children find interest in learning. Raegan also enjoys reading, rock climbing, traveling and being outdoors whenever she has free time.

Spencer

Instructor
Spencer is a senior at Utah State University studying Physics and plans to pursue data analytics after graduation. He loves showing others the beauty of math and finding "mathy" moments in every-day life. In his free time, he enjoys practicing yoga, playing music, coding generative art, and watching TV series.

Talmage

Instructor
Talmage is a high school student at Brighton High School, where he will be taking AP Calculus. When he was younger, he used to entertain himself counting as high as he could. Math has always been his favorite class, and he hopes to study it in college. Talmage also enjoys running, skiing, hiking, and playing the violin

Trevor

Instructor
Trevor McFarland is a fifth-year student at the University of Utah working on a double major in Computer Engineering and Instrumental Music Education. Trevor has a great passion for teaching and helping others grow. When Trevor is not conducting music or playing his saxophone, he loves hiking, skiing, and doing photography with his wife.

Walter

Instructor
Walter earned a bachelor's degree in Math from Cal Poly Pomona and moved to Utah shortly after receiving his master's degree. He currently works as an academic advisor for business students at the University of Utah. Walter is excited to show kids that you can be creative in the ways that you can arrive at a solution for any given math problem. He hopes that he can make math fun for his students! In his spare time, Walter enjoys going on walks, reading, and trying out new recipes.

Wyatt

Instructor
Wyatt is currently a student at the University of Utah majoring in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in aerospace engineering. He has had a love of math and physics his whole life and loves learning new things. In his spare time he enjoys playing games, reading, and playing the violin.
