Mila earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, and worked as a Six Sigma Black Belt Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, using statistical analysis to optimize processes and profitability. She has spent the past decade as a math aide in her children’s elementary school, witnessing firsthand how small successes can rebuild a child’s confidence in math.
Inspired by Mathnasium’s approach, she knew she had to share it with her community. At home, math is a family affair—her husband, Michael, is also a Chemical Engineer, and her three kids, Declan, Anna, and Liam, all love math!
Emma recently graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in Health, Society, and Policy and a minor in Chemistry. She has worked at Mathnasium since 2021 and finds great joy in helping students realize their potential. She believes that math can be both fun and empowering when taught in the right way.
Emma loves working with students and watching their confidence grow. She is passionate about making math more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. In her free time Emma enjoys playing the harp, painting and crocheting.
Rachel grew up in North Logan, Utah, and has been working as a teacher since she was 19. She loves working with students who struggle in math and has a firm belief that everyone can improve their math skills, no matter how far behind they are starting. Outside of math, she loves reading, hiking, and playing with her cats.
Kate attended Utah State University, studying Mathematics. Since then, they have been volunteering their time reverse-engineering and simulating computer systems, while writing technical summaries for the community.
Wyatt is currently a student at the University of Utah majoring in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in aerospace engineering. He has had a love of math and physics his whole life and loves learning new things. In his spare time he enjoys playing games, reading, and playing the violin.
Taylor is a Masters student at the University of Utah in Physics Education Research having graduated in Physics and Astronomy with a minor in Mathematics from Brigham Young University. He is enthusiastic about his interests and loves sharing that fun with others. In his free time, Taylor enjoys solving puzzles in many forms from jigsaw puzzles to playing Legend of Zelda.
Adam is a mechanical engineering student at the University of Utah and will be starting his senior year this fall. He enjoys breaking down complex problems and helping others understand new subjects! Outside of Mathnasium, Adam likes to stay active through soccer and rock climbing, and he often unwinds by reading, watching shows, or working on outdoor projects. He also enjoys experimenting in the kitchen—especially when it comes to perfecting homemade Neapolitan pizza.
Alex is currently a junior at Olympus high school and will be taking AP calculus this year. He has really enjoyed math the past few years and wants to help kids succeed and love it, too. In his free time, he loves mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, and being with friends and family.
Alex is going into his Junior year at Hillcrest High School. He loves Math, and teaching others to have fun with it like he does. This is his third year on the Hillcrest Stage Crew and loves lighting. He also loves reading, DND, Pokemon, playing video games, and being with his family and friends.
Avni is currently a sophomore at the University of Utah majoring in Math Teaching. She has
loved math since childhood. Her mom supported her when she struggled, inspiring her to help
children learn and enjoy math. In her free time, she loves to read, do paper crafting, and draw.
Brian is an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Utah. Since he was young, math has been one of his favorite subjects. He has worked as a Teaching Assistant at the U for two years. He enjoys helping students understand math and connect it to other subjects they are learning. When he’s not working, he enjoys playing games, reading, and listening to music.
Claire is a current senior at Hillcrest High School, and has dedicated much of her time to the performing arts department. When she’s not working in the auditorium, she loves to read, write, and craft. She has always loved helping her peers with their math homework during any downtime at rehearsals, and is excited to help math click in more kids' heads. She’s loved the AP Statistics class she took and the concurrent enrollment math class she’s currently in.
Emma is majoring in secondary math teaching at the University of Utah. She wants to become a high school math teacher. In her free time she likes to sing and play guitar with her friends. She also enjoys playing video games and lifting weights at the gym. She is excited to help kids feel more confident about their math skills.
Eszter is a Sophomore at the University of Utah majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. She loves seeing students grow, and encouraging them to reach their full potential. She is excited to show students all the doors that math can open in their lives. In her free time, she loves playing the clarinet, creative writing, and hiking.
Harry is a current student at the University of Utah, studying computer science and game design. He has always loved math and finding the ways it connects to everyday life, and how concepts build upon each other. In his free time he enjoys playing video games, playing Dungeons and Dragons, reading, and finding the best coffee places around.
Jack is a student at the University of Utah getting his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jack grew up teaching his peers and finds enjoyment in helping others discover and learn creative approaches to solving math problems. Outside of the classroom, Jack likes skiing and anything outdoors related. Jack is excited to be apart of the team and helping students in the understanding of math.
Katie is a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Utah with an emphasis in biomechanics. Her love for math began at a young age, inspired by a teacher who made every lesson fun and exciting. She’s passionate about helping students discover that same excitement and love for math. She also loves watching and playing basketball, her dog, Prince, and spending time with friends and family.
Kira is a student at the University of Utah getting her degree in Material Science and Engineering. She’s always enjoyed STEM classes and particularly enjoys the part of math when something “clicks”, for herself and others. Outside of school she loves to spend time with her family and dog, loves reading, crafting, and traveling.
Koorosh is a student at the Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science. He is taking Calculus 2210 and 2250 this upcoming year, and has completed Calculus 1210 and 1220 from the University of Utah. He has a strong passion for math and strives to see others succeed. In his free time, Koorosh spends time with family and plays Rocket League.
Matthew is a junior at Brighton High School. He is taking AP Calculus this year and loves math, especially when he can use it outside of class. When he's not busy, he enjoys being with friends, mountain biking, running, and woodworking.
Matthew is currently a junior at Skyline High school. He took AP Statistics his sophomore year and is taking AP Calculus this year. He is passionate about math and wants to help students discover their passion for math. In his free time, you can find him playing tennis, doing freeride skiing, and spending time with his family.
Max is a Junior at Skyline who likes the feeling when math suddenly makes sense and all becomes right in the universe. He's currently in AP calculus and AP physics and loves helping people in those classes understand what is going on.
On his own time, he enjoys reading (especially Brandon Sanderson), playing the saxophone and ukulele, and spending time with his awesome brothers. He loves nothing more than seeing students understand new math concepts, and filling in old math gaps.
Michael is an online student at BYU-I studying Software Development, hoping to get into more technical aspects of Computer Science. He's always had a passion for STEM fields and wants to help others find that passion as well. In his free time, he likes hiking, rock climbing, and playing games.
Mike is a senior at Skyline High School, he's planning to go to the University of Utah this fall to study games and simulation. He took AP Calculus in his junior year and he's currently preparing for two different physics exams: AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C: Mechanics. He has many hobbies including reading, creative writing, history, theater and music.
Spencer Bartholomew is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Masters in Mathematics, a Masters in Education, and a Bachelors in Statistics. He has worked in Higher Education for 24 years, teaching at Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, and the University of Utah, as well as teaching for Jordan School District. He enjoys working with math students of all levels and backgrounds. He relates well with children through his educational experience and through interacting with 17 nieces and nephews.
Talon is an alumni/current student at SLCC studying chemical engineering while having a 1 year certification in EDDT and an AS in general studies. He likes to do things that make him think deeply about its applications. He likes to play chess and other games in his free time, loves to hike, and travel anywhere when given the opportunity
Walker is a junior at Skyline High School and will be graduating this year. He loves physics and math. He has taken AP Physics, Chem 1010 and is currently in AP Calculus. He has spent many evenings doing math lessons just for fun and for the challenge. He is excited to help students understand and love math. Outside of math, he loves to rock climb, hike and mountain bike. He is fluent in French. He plans to pursue a career in aviation and aerospace.
William is a student at the Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science who has taken Calculus 1210 and 1220 through the University of Utah. He's always favored STEM subjects and is an active member of his school's robotics club. Outside of school and club activities, he spends his free time reading, playing games, coding projects, and studying Japanese.
