Katlyn
Assistant Center Director
Hi! I’m Katlyn, a Biology Master’s student at George Mason University with a passion for poetry and painting. I have a deep appreciation for numbers—especially 3 and 7, which often appear in fairytales. As a dedicated collector, I’ve built a collection of over 180 decks of playing cards. Having been a Mathnasium student myself, I’m grateful for the opportunity to help others make sense of math, just as it was for me. And if you ever find yourself wondering, “What’s odd?”—well, every other number!
Ahmed
Instructor
Hi, I’m Ahmed! My favorite number is 73—no deep reason, I just think it’s cool (unlike Sheldon Cooper’s long-winded explanation). I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, and when I’m not exploring the wonders of space and technology, I enjoy digital art and animation. My favorite trope in fiction is time travel, which is probably why I love Doctor Who! AnyWHO (See what I did there?), did you hear about the mathematician who’s afraid of negative numbers? He’ll stop at nothing to avoid them! Math is a powerful asset, capable of taking us beyond the stars—and I love helping students discover just how far it can take them!
Fatima
Instructor
Hey there! I'm Fatima, a junior at Hylton High School. I love my family, friends, and playing lacrosse. Fun fact, I have a passion for making super cool drinks! My whole life I've had a liking for the number 13, and I just couldn't explain why- this was until 4th grade when someone told me that I shouldn't like 13 because it was "bad luck"... It's been my favorite since then :)
Mustafa
Instructor
Hello, my name is Mustafa and I am studying computer science. I enjoy teaching and solving math problems in fun and intuitive ways that can make complex problems seem simple. A fun fact about me is that I enjoy drawing and sketching comic book characters. The way I got into tutoring was through teaching my younger sister math, then I started teaching my neighbor, and now I am here. My favorite number is pi, I won’t tell you why, it's an infinitely long story. In my free time I like to tinker with code and try to automate various tasks.
Tristan
Instructor
Hey, I’m Tristan! I’m a junior at St John Paul The Great High school, and I’m interested in studying forensic chemistry in college. I enjoy hanging out with my dog, playing dungeons and dragons and video games with my friends, and studying science. My favorite number is 12 because it was the number on my jersey when I played baseball as a kid. Fun Fact: at a specific pressure and temperature, water freezes, melts, and boils all at once, it’s called the triple point, and it looks super cool.
William
Instructor
How’s it going! I’m William. I’ve always been curious about how math intersects & interacts with the real world, and electricity is just that! I’m a rising freshman into George Mason University, studying Electrical & Computer engineering. Speaking of computer engineers, you know what they say— there are 10 types of people in this world: People who understand binary, and people who don’t. My favorite number has been 48 since I was a kid, because the multiplication for it is very rhythmic: 6 times 8 is forty-eight.

Mathnasium provides premium value by combining a superior learning experience with an efficient structure that keeps costs low. There is a flat enrollment fee for our program, and students attend regularly—much like a gym membership. We recommend that they attend Mathnasium 2-3 times per week as attending less frequently will slow results and attending too often could lead to student burnout. Pricing varies by program and geographic area. Contact our center for more details on enrollment packages.
We use the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach which combines personalized learning plans with proven techniques to build math knowledge upon what students already know, so they're able to retain what they learn and gain confidence along the way.
No. All learning occurs under the efficient and effective guidance of our trained instructors. Adding homework would risk frustration and overload. In fact, we'll set aside some time each session to help your student with their school homework.
