Katlyn is currently pursuing her Master’s in Biology at George Mason University and brings creativity and curiosity to everything she does. A former Mathnasium student, she’s excited to give back by helping others make math make sense—just like it did for her.
She has a love for fairytales, especially the numbers 3 and 7, and collects playing cards with a collection now over 180 decks strong. Outside the center, Katlyn enjoys painting, writing poetry, and answering the age-old question: What’s odd? Every other number!
Ahmed holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech and brings a love of both math and space exploration to his students. He enjoys making complex concepts approachable and fun, and he believes math has the power to take us beyond the stars.
When he’s not tutoring, Ahmed creates digital art, watches Doctor Who, and explores time travel tropes in fiction. His favorite number is 73, and he’s always up for a good math pun—especially about negative numbers he’ll stop at nothing to avoid!
Fatima is a junior at Hylton High School who brings energy and positivity to the Mathnasium team. She loves playing lacrosse, spending time with family and friends, and crafting fun and creative drinks.
Her favorite number is 13, which she proudly adopted in fourth grade after someone told her it was unlucky—she’s been proving them wrong ever since! Fatima enjoys making math feel less intimidating and more empowering for every student she works with.
Mustafa is a computer science student who brings creativity and clarity to math instruction. He began tutoring by helping his younger sister, then his neighbor, and now enjoys teaching students at Mathnasium using intuitive, engaging methods.
His favorite number is π, though he says explaining why would be an “infinitely long story.” When not teaching, Mustafa enjoys sketching comic book characters, coding small automation projects, and exploring new tech.
Tristan is a junior at St. John Paul the Great High School and is interested in studying forensic chemistry in college. He brings a love of science and logic to his sessions, making math both fun and relevant for students.
His favorite number is 12, the number on his childhood baseball jersey. Outside of Mathnasium, Tristan enjoys Dungeons & Dragons, hanging out with his dog, playing video games, and sharing cool facts—like the triple point of water, where it freezes, melts, and boils at once!
How’s it going! I’m William. I’ve always been curious about how math intersects & interacts with the real world, and electricity is just that! I’m a rising freshman into George Mason University, studying Electrical & Computer engineering. Speaking of computer engineers, you know what they say— there are 10 types of people in this world: People who understand binary, and people who don’t. My favorite number has been 48 since I was a kid, because the multiplication for it is very rhythmic: 6 times 8 is forty-eight.
Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
Are you interested in changing lives through math? We're looking for outstanding individuals with a high level of commitment who are passionate about teaching math. Find out if there's a Mathnasium position that's just right for you!
