Barry Sanders

Owner/Center Director

Hi! My name is Barry Sanders. I have been a lover of mathematics all of my life! I received both a bachelor’s and a masters in math from the University of Missouri, Columbia. I have taught college algebra, linear algebra, statistics, and numerical analysis at the college level at the University of Missouri, Westminster College, and for other college programs throughout my career. I have worked in the corporate world most of my career, starting with a stint as an Operations Research Analyst at Midwest Research Institute, and then moving into various positions in the computer industry. After completing my MBA, I moved into IT management, working up to IT Director for both for-profit and non-profit corporations and VP of IT at Xtra Corporation. I now enjoy volunteering at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, and volunteering at my church's food pantry, called "Impact". I love music, playing piano, and trombone as well as singing in the Barbershop Harmony Society. In my spare time, I love to play golf and work Sudoku puzzles. I am a proud veteran of the US Navy. In the 4 years that I have worked for Mathnasium, first as an instructor, and now as a Center Director and Franchise Owner I have “fallen in love” with the Mathnasium Method of helping students get better at math and develop a more positive attitude about their math skills and aptitude.

Hello! My name is Logan, and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the team at Mathnasium of Lee’s Summit! I am a student at Missouri State University majoring in Data Analytics. I have always found comfort and satisfaction in my math classes, I find a similar satisfaction in helping the students of Mathnasium reach understanding in their own math classes and the math that surrounds them in their everyday lives!

Lead Instructor

Hi! My name is Linda Rodriguez and I am the lead instructor at Mathnasium! I received a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, emphasis in Mathematics and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University of Missouri. Previously, I worked as the College Algebra & Finite Mathematics Tutor Supervisor for The Learning Center at The University of Missouri, as well as an academic tutor for Mizzou Athletics. I have several years of experience in the LSR-7 School District: as an alumni, a student teacher (2019, LSNHS), and substituting in the district (2019-Current). I have additional experience with private tutoring in Algebra classes, Geometry, IB Math, and Calculus. I have such a passion for mathematics for it is a universal language that everyone can learn! I can’t wait to share my love of math with the students of Mathnasium!

Marisa Elkin

Instructor

Hi! I am Marisa Elkin. I was born in Independence, Missouri and graduated from Raytown School District. I love everything about math and am guilty of telling a few corny math jokes in my classroom. I am glad to join the fun team here at Mathnasium. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in mathematics from UCM, plus a masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in math from UMKC. Over the past 28 years one could find me teaching high school students in the Raytown District. In addition, I have many years experience with private tutoring in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, College Algebra and Pre-Calculus. I have a knack of making math make sense to others and I eagerly await the opportunity to work with anyone who walks through the doors of Mathnasium.
