Come Say Hi to Our New Team Members!

Fencing! Skydiving! Singing! Art!

What do all of these pursuits have in common? They are just some of the hobbies our newest instructors enjoy! With Brennan, Reyna, Danny and Pete all headed to college, and several of our seniors (Joe and Peter) participating in sports and internships this fall, we had a few instructor roles to fill, and boy did we hit the jackpot!

In addition to being math experts and loving working with children, each of our new staff members are just plain nice and interesting people!  We hired an actual rocket scientist (and SHE's pretty cool) plus we just added a retired engineer from Lockheed! We also got lucky with a young man who has been a tutor for many years and had a fun, lighthearted personality! Our last two new hires are both seniors in high school and are great additions to our team. Kathryn's already been working for a couple of weeks and Ryker will start soon. Unfortunately, he had a skateboarding accident just before he was to start and has been dealing with the affects of a pretty severe concussion (and he was wearing a helmet).

I always try to maintain a balanced staff so there's always several team members each of our students can relate to and enjoy working with! We have high school seniors (no juniors this year) as well as a college senior, junior and sophomore (all from School of Mines). We have two current math teachers and two retired math teachers plus a retired engineer on our team. Our ages range from 17 to the early 70's and everything in between!

Can you figure out who the singer is? What about the skydiver? The artist? The competitive fencer? Check out our staff bios and tell me whom you think is who next time you're in, and be sure to give each of these newbies all the respect and goodwill you show all of our instructors!
