Calling all Mathletes in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade in the Littleton area!
Join us on Saturday November 3, 2018 for a fun-filled day of math. All abilities are welcome, and everyone gets a participation goody bag plus there are medals and special prizes for 1st through 4th place for each grade level!
What's a Mathlete you ask?
A Mathlete is anyone who works out in math (and that's every student in Littleton!).
What's a TriMaththon?
It's a fun math event for kids in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade! Children at each grade level will participate in three exciting math challenges: The Counting Game, Magic Squares, and Mental Math Workout. Each challenge is tailored by grade and progressively increases in difficulty. Even remedial or struggling students can be successful at some problems in each contest!
Some sample questions include:
1). 97 + 98 + 99 = ______
2). Half of 71/2 = _______
3). _____ x 13 - ______ x 4 = 63
Not only do the children complete competition sheets, we play games, enjoy food and refreshment and tell jokes! Each grade level has a two-hour window so the kids and their families don't lose an entire Saturday.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
Earn Money for Your School
The TriMathlon is also a great way to earn money for your school! Over the past three years, Mathnasium of Littleton has donated more than $3000 to area elementary schools as a result of the TriMathlon! How does this happen? For each school that has 6 or more students participating, Mathnasium of Littleton will donate $10/participant to the school or to the school's parent-teacher organization. There is also an incentive for schools to get the word out! The school with the most participants gets an additional $200 donation plus a pizza party for all the participants!
