Summer with Mathnasium

Summer at Mathnasium keeps math skills strong.

The expression "use it or lose it" applies to math knowledge, too. On average, students lose 2.6 months of what they've learned in math class over summer break. Summer at Mathnasium is the answer.

More than Just Math!
Welcome to Mathnasium Summer Camp! With FIVE separate week-long camps, each offered twice this summer, there's something for every student to get excited about. We want our students to be able to come in and get excited about STEM and math AND learn something at the same time, so each of our camps have been meticulously designed to be the perfect blend of fun and learning. Students will learn to work both individually and in teams with the guidance of our expert instructors, who will be there to provide lessons and help during the activities. See Extra Information for more detailed descriptions of each camp!

Financial Literacy: As we know, becoming an adult with no knowledge of how to manage your finances, pay your taxes, or how credit cards work is difficult, and can lead you into many sticky situations. With this Financial  Literacy camp, we aim to give young students a leg up and an early start to being smart with money.

Puzzles and Math Olympiad: Riddles, logic games, and puzzles; who hasn’t been left stumped while looking at one of these and given up out of frustration? Sometimes, the only way to tackle a difficult problem is a bit of creative thinking. With this Puzzle and Math Olympiad, we aim to provide students strategies for creative thinking and problem-solving, a very important skill in events like the Math Olympiad, where you are faced with a unique problem that requires careful thought.

Design and Construction: Have you ever looked at a massive structure and wondered how it manages to stay standing against the wind or gravity? Sometimes, the difference between a masterpiece and a collapse is a solid understanding of physics and structural integrity.

With this Design and Construction session, we aim to provide students with hands-on experience in the fundamentals of architectural design and civil engineering. Through interactive builds and creative challenges, students will master the art of structural stability and spatial planning - essential skills for any future innovator who wants to turn a visionary sketch into a tangible, sturdy reality.

Lego Robotics: Code, Create, and Command: Motors, sensors, and gears; have you ever built a cool machine out of bricks and wished it could actually come to life? Sometimes, the hardest part of building a robot isn’t just the construction, but figuring out the "brain" that tells it how to move. With this Lego Robotics session, we aim to introduce students to the exciting world of automated engineering and logic-based programming. By using the Lego Spike and Mindstorms platforms, campers will learn to write code that solves real-world challenges—transforming static piles of bricks into intelligent, functional robots capable of navigating obstacles and completing complex missions.

3D Printing: Have you ever drawn something awesome and wished you could grab it right off the paper and play with it? Sometimes, the coolest inventions start as just an idea on a screen, and it takes a bit of "maker magic" to bring them to life. With this 3D Printing session, we aim to show students how to use kid-friendly design tools to turn their big ideas into real objects. Campers will explore how 3D printers build layer-by-layer, learning to troubleshoot their creations and think like real inventors as they transform their imagination into 3D masterpieces they can take home!
