You can find math fun anywhere you look!

Today we are looking at the kitchen and with the holiday season in full swing there is bound to be baking and cooking taking place in your kitchen.

The kitchen is full of numbers for all levels of math:

Shapes

  • Look at what shapes the containers of ingredients are in
  • See how you can turn one shape into another, i.e. Cut a slice of pie and see what shape you get next

Time

  • Counting backwards with timers
  • Time it takes to make something, from start to finish, including cooling time
  • Time that dinner will be served

By the time your recipes are finished your students will have had lots of fun and learned mathematical skills without even knowing it!
