Have you ever wondered what goes on inside Northside San Antonio?

Today, you’ll get a glimpse into the happenings of your local center as we follow students through their first experience at Northside San Antonio.

Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?

A: Before becoming a student, the student completes an assessment. After enrolling, on day 1, the student receives an intro to the center and creates their custom binder spine.

Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?

A: The assessment is a tool that we use to help identify where we should begin. This is different for all students and is foundation to building a success plan for each student. As a result, the process will vary. However, the further long a student is in grade years, the more time required to be invested initially. That said, we try not to exceed 90 minutes.

Q: How often should I bring my student to Northside San Antonio?

A: Studies have proven that an average of 2-3 times per week is ideal. We designed our program to allow up to 10 session per month and really encourage parents to make at least 8 of those sessions.

Q: Who are the people teaching my child?

A: People that know math. Seems simple but there is a very difficult assessment that instructors must complete to demonstrate their competency before even making it to the background check process. We also look for instructors that will have the best chance of success at connecting with the students. Our job is to build confidence. We do that by teaching math, and personality and relationship skills play a key role.

Q: When can I bring my child into Northside San Antonio?

A: At your regularly scheduled time. Consistency is a key ingredient to any successful plan so creating a recurring schedule you can stick to is strongly encouraged. All sessions are scheduled, and rescheduling can be done conveniently via our schedule app. Scheduling this way allows our team to ensure proper student-to-instructor ratios.

Q: How do you motivate your students at Northside San Antonio?

A: We have an AWESOME team of instructors but we also bribe (I mean reward) our students. We have a stocked reward cabinet or two, and a number of ways to celebrate students for their success at Mathnasium and inside the classroom. We make learning math FUN!
