We support students who love math with personalized enrichment, with programs for high-achieving elementary learners to competition preparation and advanced topics that inspire curiosity and mathematical excellence.
Following personalized learning plans, we guide high-achieving students in grades 1 through pre-algebra to explore beyond grade-level material, building algebraic thinking, justification and reasoning, strategic problem-solving, and flexible number sense that lay the groundwork for long-term mathematical success.
We equip students for math competitions — including AMC, MathCounts, and Math Olympiad — through targeted training in advanced problem-solving strategies, pattern recognition, and creative thinking techniques that build the skills and confidence needed to excel in competitive settings.
Students in or preparing for honors and accelerated courses can receive targeted instruction that strengthens mastery of advanced topics, builds sophisticated problem-solving skills, and develops the academic confidence needed to thrive in rigorous coursework.
At Mathnasium of Okemos, we welcome students in Okemos who are performing at or above grade level and are ready for a greater challenge.
Our personalized math enrichment programs provide the structure and expert support students need, whether they want to explore new mathematical concepts, pursue accelerated coursework, or prepare for competitive exams and placement tests.
Powered by the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach, our math enrichment program is designed to build deep understanding, not just familiarity with advanced content.
We help students develop logical thinking, precision, and the ability to connect ideas across mathematical topics. All sessions are delivered through face-to-face instruction in a caring and engaging group environment.
Math enrichment at Mathnasium begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify each student's current level, areas of strength, and learning goals. Using these insights, we build a personalized learning plan that challenges them appropriately and moves them forward with purpose.
From advanced algebra and geometry to number theory and competition strategies, every plan is built around what that student is ready for and where they want to go next.

Madi will always smile when recalling her favorite books from her childhood.
Q&A with Madi:
Q: What kind of math do you find most fun (or most challenging)?
A: I enjoy Algebra II the most, but I love all types of math.
Q: What experience or class led you to discover your passion for math?
A: I have always loved math, but calculus BC in high school was one of my favorite collaborative math experiences.
Q: What's the deal with Geometry?
A: I love geometry. I think it's very different from other types of math, especially with the proofs.
Q: What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?
A: I like all types of music; rock, pop, blues, country, rap.
Q: Would you sign up for a one-way ticket to Mars?
A: No I would not. I like Earth a lot. I would visit Mars, but I'd want to be able to come back because Mars doesn't have any beaches.
Q: What's the funniest mistake you've ever made?
A: Forgetting to bring my backpack to school.
Q: What's something you secretly dislike, but everyone else seems to love?
A: French Fries. I'd rather have mashed potatoes.
Adam

While in high school, Adam earned an award for being one of the people who checked the most books out of the library. Adam is fascinated by the story of the life of John Nash, from the movie A Beautiful Mind.
Q&A with Adam
Q: What kind of math do you find most fun (or most challenging)?
A: Solving matrices is pretty fun; it's like a big logic puzzle.
Q: What experience or class led you to discover your passion for math?
A: I think my AP Calculus BC teacher, Mr. Saros, has a big passion for math, which encourages me and other students of his to appreciate math as well.
Q: What's the deal with Geometry?
A: Geometry just really wants you to provide proof for everything you do.
Q: What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?
A: I don't like any drinks aside from water.
Q: I've just looked into the future and have seen that you're on the list of TIME's most influential people of the year in 2043. How did you manage that?
A: Ideally the way I'd achieve this is through making some great breakthrough related to working towards stopping climate change.
Q: Would you sign up for a one-way ticket to Mars?
A: I wouldn't. I think life here on Earth is a lot better and there's way too many things and people I would miss back home.
Q: If you could revert yourself to a younger age and lose all the knowledge you've gained since that age, would you?
A: I wouldn't. I like how my life has turned out so far and I would lose a lot of relationships with people I care about.

Q: If you could choose any job to do for one week, what would you choose?
A: Flight attendant, since I love to travel and there are so many places I would love to go and see.

At Mathnasium of Okemos, our approach to teaching advanced students is built around the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach that combines diagnostic assessment, personalized learning plans, and proven instructional techniques.
After the diagnostic assessment, our specially trained tutors design a learning plan that meets advanced students where they are and pushes them toward the next level.
Absolutely! While the enrichment program is primarily designed for students at or above grade level, we welcome students who show strong potential and enthusiasm for math, even if their current skills need some development.
Our specially trained tutors create personalized learning plans that build essential foundations while weaving in enrichment thinking and problem-solving challenges appropriate to each student's readiness.
Without a diagnostic assessment, we would be guessing what a student already knows and where they are ready to grow. The assessment removes that guesswork by giving us a clear view of each student's current skills and enrichment goals.
We use those insights to build a personalized learning plan that sets the right level of challenge from day one, so students arrive at their first session feeling motivated and ready to be stretched.
Yes. While our enrichment program is designed to go beyond the standard curriculum, we make sure that instruction can be aligned with each student's school expectations and academic goals when needed. This may include:
Preparing for entry into honors or accelerated math tracks
Building skills for advanced courses like Algebra, Geometry, or Pre-calculus
Developing readiness for school or program placement exams
Bridging important academic transitions, such as from middle to high school math
The cost of math enrichment at Mathnasium of Okemos varies based on your student's individual learning plan and session schedule. We charge a flat monthly membership fee.
For specific pricing information, please contact our center directly at [email protected]. We're happy to walk you through the options and find a plan that fits your student's goals and your family's needs.
