So, Clayton, What do you love most about teaching here? A: I really enjoy helping the kids truly understand the math topics that they are learning. I feel as though in many cases, they come to us with a strong distaste for math, but I strive to help them see that math is fun, useful, and, most importantly, makes sense!
What's your favorite success story at Mathnasium? A: A younger student at my Mathnasium center is very interested in my life and what I do outside of teaching math. Every time we meet she and I exchange our favorite things about the week and what we learned at school. On days that I wear contacts instead of glasses, she is always quick to ask where my glasses are. Interactions like those are super fun and brighten any day no matter how dreary.
If I was to catch you at your favorite local restaurant, what would it be and what would you order? A: In Pensacola, my favorite local restaurant is Flounders which is a seafood restaurant on the beach. I usually order whatever the catch of the day is, as well as their bang-bang shrimp appetizer.
What is your favorite place to go on the weekend? A: I usually spend my weekends with my friends or with my partner watching movies, playing board games, or walking in the park on the bay. I enjoy the quiet so the park is a hot spot for me!
Tell me that last movie you saw and enjoyed. A: Well, I'm a HUGE fan of StarWars and, despite having seen it before, I watched Episode 3 most recently (just last night) and of course I enjoyed it tremendously.
