Nick K.

Center Director
Nick is currently enrolled at California State University, Long Beach in their teaching credential program with aspirations to be either be a 5th, 11th, or 12th grade teacher. Nick realized at a young age that he enjoyed math and has spent the last two years tutoring students from 1st grade - 11th grade. With experience teaching all ages, he is excited to help students of any skill level. He also previously spent 8 years as an after school skateboard instructor so he has experience with children as well. In his free time, he enjoys going to concerts and hanging out with his friends.

Joey L.

Assistant Center Director
Joey, a UCSB graduate with a degree in Aquatic Biology, is a lifelong resident of San Pedro and is deeply committed to its community. Recognizing the importance of public educational resources, he dedicates his time as a volunteer to institutions like AltaSea. While working as an Educational Aide at Dana Middle School, he also tutors at Mathnasium after school. When not diving into his community work, Joey enjoys photography, playing the piano, weightlifting, and experimenting in the kitchen.

Michael T.

Instructor
Michael is a former South Carolinian and an incoming freshman at UC Irvine majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. He likes computers, games, STEM-related topics, going to the gym, taekwondo, and trying new out-doors activities. He hopes to meet many new people and make California his new home.

Kayla W.

Instructor
Kayla is a student at California State University, Long Beach majoring in Computer Engineering. She has always been passionate about math, as she finds the problem-solving aspects both challenging and rewarding. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games, reading, and playing the piano.

John W.

Instructor
John is a student at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, now learning Calculus, and happy to teach students at Mathnasium! John’s been passionate about math since elementary school, and has known he loves to teach for even longer! Having been through multiple tutoring programs through his younger years, he brings his knowledge, experience, and emphasis on patience and excitement understanding math to teaching. John works well with children of all ages, always finding time to connect over things like video games or how tough school can be. In his free time, John’s part of his school’s robotics team, and loves to work out and take care of his hair.

Lizzie D.

Instructor
Lizzie is a student at California State University, Long Beach majoring in Applied Statistics. Lizzie is very passionate about helping students learn new skills, especially math. Previously she has had four years of experience teaching art to K-8 students, as well as the elderly in rest homes. In her free time, she likes to paint, surf, and rock climb.

Bee K.

Instructor
Bee is a lifelong resident of San Pedro, who has a passion for teaching students K-12. Having previously temporarily majored in Computer Science, she found an interest in math along the way. She now spends most of her time tutoring students in mathematics and teaching private music lessons on the side. In her free time she enjoys art, music, games, and boxing.

Adrian

Instructor
My name is Adrian, and I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS and MS in Pure Mathematics in 2016 and 2018 respectively. I love surfing, lifing weights, reading, and playing video games. I spend a lot of my free time learning new things, my latest interest has been history specifically focusing on the migration period. I’ve spent most of my life in Southern California but I would really like to move up north to the Pacific Northwest as I enjoy when it rains.
