Power Hour: 5 Fast-Paced Stations to Build Real Financial Confidence
We had a FUN-tastic Saturday afternoon last April 25th. We are so proud of the hard work and enthusiasm we saw at each Power Hour activity station. Our Mathletes explored important financial literacy concepts which showcased how money evolves in the real world. Power Hour is an engaging, interactive financial literacy experience designed to help participants build essential money-management skills through five hands-on stations. Each station focused on a core area of personal finance—earning, saving, borrowing, budgeting, and spending—giving our Mathletes practical, everyday tools.
At the Earning Station, participants explore income sources, paychecks, taxes, and career choices to better understand how money is made and managed from the start. The Saving Station emphasizes goal-setting, emergency funds, and the power of compound growth, encouraging smart habits for future financial stability.
The Borrowing Station introduces credit, loans, interest rates, and debt responsibility, helping participants make informed borrowing decisions. At the Budgeting Station, learners practice balancing income and expenses, creating realistic budgets that support both needs and goals. Finally, the Spending Station focuses on smart consumer choices, comparison shopping, and distinguishing wants from needs.
Together, these five stations transform financial education into an active, memorable experience. Power Hour equips participants with practical knowledge, decision-making skills, and confidence to take control of their financial future—one smart choice at a time.If you missed our Apr 25th Power Hour, no worries. There will be more chances in summer! Starting June 19th, we will host Power Hour events every other Friday in our center. These will also be open to friends and family of our Mathletes.
