Today you’ll get a glimpse into the happenings of your local center as we follow students through their first experience at Mathnasium of South Elgin.

Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?

A: Students get to see all the fun stuff we have at the center, and decorate their very own binder spine

Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?

A: Our comprehensive assessments are designed to find out exactly where a student is at with their math skills. We are able to identify their strengths, and any foundational gaps they may have so we can create a fully custom learning plan tailored the students' individual needs. This allows us to find out and create everything the student needs to succeed. The assessments normally take an hour to an hour and a half to complete.

Q: How often should I bring my student to Mathnasium of South Elgin?

A: Two times per week, each session is an hour long.

Q: Who are the people teaching my child?

A: Our instructors are mostly High School and College students who are extremely qualified to work with students of all ages. Our instructors have to pass two separate tests, an observation day, and online training courses which go through the Mathnasium Methodology and Teaching Constructs in order to be hired.

Q: When can I bring my child into Mathnasium of South Elgin?

A: We have very flexible hours, and are open Sundays through Thursdays. We have evening hours on the weekdays and morning/afternoon hours on Sundays.

Q: How do you motivate your students at Mathnasium of South Elgin?

A: We have an awesome staff of instructors who are great with encouraging and motivating students. Additionally, we have a lot of prizes and contests that the students can earn for working hard. We highlight students who are working extra hard with our Student of the Month program, and even give extra rewards for students who do well in their math class at school. We like to make math fun, so it's a win-win for the students. They get to improve in their math and enjoy doing it!
