Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Anthony B

Instructor
Anthony is a dedicated educator and lifelong learner, deeply rooted in education and community. He graduated from Walt Whitman High School, where his passion for learning and helping others began to flourish. Continuing his academic journey, he recently earned a degree in Social Sciences from Mount Saint Mary College. Alongside his major, Anthony also achieved certifications in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) and Special Education (grades 1-6), demonstrating his commitment to inclusive and effective teaching practices. Currently, he is pursuing a master's degree at Touro University in Instructional Technology, expanding his expertise in integrating technology into educational practices to enhance student learning and engagement. Outside of academics, Anthony has a strong passion for sports, particularly basketball, baseball, and football. These sports have not only been a source of enjoyment but also teach valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.

Porter C

Instructor
Porter is the Salutatorian of Walt Whitman High School’s Class of 2024. During his time at Whitman, Porter enjoyed singing in the school choir, performing in school plays and concerts, and playing badminton for the school team. Academically, Porter has notably excelled in Math and Physics (he suspects it’s because math has been his favorite subject from a young age). Just as he has always looked to solve problems and equations in a variety of ways, he is looking forward to helping students learn in a personalized way—teaching in the way that best works for them.

Jefferson M

Instructor
Jefferson is currently a Junior at SUNY Stony Brook pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. He's always had an affinity for math and science so those are naturally his favorite subjects. When he's not in class you could probably find him somewhere on the South shore fishing with friends or at home fiddling with his clarinet, a passion he has decided to revive again as of recent. But, of course, with all that said he is always ready to assist in helping students be engaged and find passion in learning.

Amanda L

Instructor
Amanda is an alumna of Syosset High School and a recent graduate of Stony Brook University with a major in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Biology. She enjoyed being involved on campus and helping others by being a mentor in the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Honors program at Stony Brook as well as the Treasurer of the Society of Women Engineers club. Her love of math and science encourages her to help younger students so they can excel in their academics!

Gabrielle Sparro

Instructor
Gabrielle, or Gabby for short, is an alumna from Kellenberg Memorial High School where her love of math grew. She has her bachelor’s in Mathematics from Xavier University, class of 2022. Recently, she has graduated from Relay Graduate School of Education where she received both her Master’s in Secondary Math Education and her High School Teaching Certification. She teaches PreCalculus, Calculus and AP Calculus AB at Achievement First Brooklyn High School. When she is not teaching or doing math for fun, she enjoys reading, writing, swimming and traveling. She has been to eleven different countries. Her goal as a teacher is to get her students to love math as much as she does and help them truly understand the beauty of math.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
