What Can New Students Expect at Mathnasium of South Tampa

May 15, 2024 | South Tampa

Q: What is the first thing a new student would do upon entering Mathnasium?

A: On a student's first day, they are greeted by staff and instructors. They are given a brief orientation about the center, how to check in, and they will also receive their binder. The instructor will explain to them how the Mathnasium hour works and about the reward punch card system. When their session ends, the instructor gives them "It's my First Day" punch card and shows them how to shop in the Rewards Cabinet.

Q: What does the first session look like for new students?

A: During the student's first session, the instructor will review their curriculum and initiate their Mathnasium assignments. If the student has school homework, the instructor will provide guidance and teach them how to tackle the problems effectively. Students are encouraged to ask questions about both their Mathnasium tasks and school assignments to ensure thorough understanding and support.

Q: Have you seen a student’s attitude towards math change?

A: When Kate first joined our team, she faced challenges in math, leading her parents to enroll her in Mathnasium for extra support. As she gradually gained confidence, her outlook on math significantly improved. Today, she stands out as the go-to 'Math Person' among her peers, who often seek her help. Moreover, she consistently ranks at the top of her math class.

Q: What do you wish students and parents knew before they brought their student to your center?

A: Learning math requires time, practice, and effort. It's more than just completing homework assignments; it's about understanding concepts deeply. It's okay if math isn't every student's favorite subject, but with dedication and perseverance, anyone can improve their math skills.
