Feb 15, 2025 | Spokane North

Q: How do you ensure foundational math concepts are effectively understood by younger students?

Instructor:
Typically after I have explained the concepts and instructions, I ask the student to try by themselves so that I can see where they might be struggling. Then I will apply the use of visuals, manipulatives, and down to earth examples to help offer a variety of learning strategies.

Q: What long-term benefits have you observed in students who start building strong math skills early on?

Instructor:
Students who start building strong math skills early on are quicker to abandon obstacles like finger counting and replace them with long term strategies that are based in repetition, such as times tables. Students become more confident in their own skills as they build on previous knowledge.

Q: How has learning math at Mathnasium made other subjects or activities easier for you?

Student:
Learning math at Mathnasium has helped me with my writing because of needing to write out explanations, especially on my pizza math pages.

Q: What math concept or skill are you most excited to learn because you think it will help you in the future?

Student:
All the adding, subtraction, multiplication, and division for financial budgets. That's the math you use all the time!

Q: How has Mathnasium helped your child feel more confident in their math skills and prepared for future challenges?

Parent:
It's giving them the opportunity to practice, using encouragement which builds confidence.
