Mathnasium of Spokane North: Staying Consistent in Summer + Building Confidence

May 15, 2026 | Spokane North

Q1: Why is it important for students to stay consistent with math during the summer?

A1:
It's important for students to stay consistent with math during the summer because it can help them be prepared for the upcoming school year and prevent the summer slide. Staying consistent can keep topics learned towards the end of the school year from being reset to square one, and it can save time from having to relearn those topics when school starts again.

Q2: How does your center help students build confidence in math?

A2:
Our centers help students build confidence by meeting them where they're at in their math journey. We don't try to force students through topics they aren't ready for, instead, we teach them the building blocks for those topics so they're better prepared when the time comes.

Q3: What changes do you typically see in students after a few weeks of learning?

A3:
The changes we typically see after a few weeks of learning start with an increased focus. Once they start making progress on topics they didn't know or were struggling with, math goes from something they can't do or aren't good at, to something that isn't so bad. After that, their confidence begins to grow and their attitude towards math starts to become more positive.
