Summer Success at Mathnasium of Spokane North: How We Make Learning Fun and Inspiring

Q1: How does your center keep math learning fun during the summer months?

A: At our Mathnasium, we have themes of the week which give our students chances to earn bonus stars while engaging in a fun or creative way. Also, we do Mathnasium Bingo over the summer. Students can mark off one box that they completed in a session, and each bingo or blackout gives them stars!

Q2: Share a recent success story from your center-could be a student who’s overcome a challenge, earned a reward, or showed great progress!

A: Just recently, our student Hazel B. got 100% on her math test! She's shown great progress in her math skills and confidence since coming here, and it's great to see her math skills grow!

Q3: Why is summer learning important for your students, and how does Mathnasium help prevent the summer slide?

A: Not only is continued math practice crucial to keep math skills sharp, our individualized learning plans help students continue to fill previous gaps in knowledge, and expand their skills overall. Additionally, the personalized hands-on help for each student prevents them from being discouraged and feeling stuck at their current math level.

Q4: What’s one thing you love about your students and families at your center?

A: I love helping students turn math from a topic they dread into a fun, interactive, supportive experience. Seeing a new "aha!" moment or a topic finally click and make sense is incredible, and I love helping our students reach that understanding!
