Matthew is a teacher at North, and proud dad and husband! Originally from Gilman, MN, he brings energy, curiosity, and a love of mathematics education to the Mathnasium team. For Matthew, the most rewarding part of his job is helping young students grow in their mathematical thinking, while sharing in moments of laughter and fun along the way.
Fun Fact: He holds a Guinness World Record with his brother for completing 6,300 consecutive Frisbee tosses!
Ruth is a recently retired middle school math teacher from the Sauk Rapids School District. With decades of teaching experience, she brings deep insight, warmth, and expertise to her role at Mathnasium.
Although she officially retired, Ruth couldn’t give up the joy of helping students learn and grow. Her love for math and teaching is evident in every session, and students benefit daily from her dedication.
Chuck is a retired math teacher from the Sauk Rapids School District with a reputation for making math magical. Known affectionately as the “mathematical Dumbledore,” Chuck brings creativity, humor, and wisdom to every session.
Even after retiring, Chuck’s passion for helping students succeed brought him to Mathnasium, where he continues to shape young minds. Halloween is a special favorite; you’ll just have to see it to believe it.
Grace recently graduated from Sauk Rapids High School, where she was involved in DECA, Student Council, MHS, Link Leaders, and the swim team. For fun she enjoys math (of course!), walking her dog Sadie, and swimming at the St. Cloud Quarries. Her hidden talent is arm hula hooping, which she learned from her older sister. Grace plans to go to the University of Wisconsin - Madison to study marketing and finance.
Michael recently graduated from Apollo, where he was on the Math Team and also part of Apollo's chapter of National Honor Society. Since that is not enough math for him, he is also in the St. Cloud State University Math Club. This fall Michael will begin pursuit of his electrical engineering and Chinese language degrees at The University of Rhode Island. He has lived nearby in Waite Park his whole life, enjoying hobbies that include Rubick's cubing (yes, he told us to type that), learning more about the Chinese language and culture, and swimming in nearby lakes.
Fun and interesting fact about Michael: He has solved a 9x9 Rubick's cube, and has solved a regular one in 45 seconds (!)
Laina is an upcoming senior studying Violin Performance at Cedarville University, but is also minoring in Physics for fun. She loves learning (especially math), and is excited to share that love with younger students. In her free time she likes to listen to classical music, make jewelry, and drink tea. A fun fact about her is that she once intentionally spent all day taking an MCA test so that she could skip gym class.
Justin is a lifelong learner and lover of math. He likes to share facts from the random things he has retained, for some reason, over the years. Some of the things he likes to learn about are mathematics (of course), history, geography, and philosophy. He has a passion for education, and enjoys when he sees the excitement as a student figures out a problem for the first time.
One interesting thing about him is that he is 80 inches tall (how many feet and inches is that?). Bonus points for centimeters! ;)
Holden attends SCSU studying mathematics and earth science. He plans to be an astrophysicist. In his free time, Holden enjoys golfing at Territory Golf Club, hiking by the Mississippi, and reading books.
A fun fact about him is that he was a 3-peat state champion in hockey while in high school in South Dakota.
Andy began his Mathnasium journey as an instructor in 2010 and became the proud owner of Mathnasium of St. Cloud in 2017. He enjoys sharing his passion and
Andy lives in St. Cloud with his wife Jenna, their sons Arthur And Oliver, and 4-legged child Lola. He serves on local nonprofit boards and volunteers over 100 hours annually with Junior Achievement and St. Cloud FACT.
Ace is the official high-fiver and cheerleader at Mathnasium of St. Cloud. If you don’t give him a high five, he’ll ask you a math question instead!
Whether he's offering encouragement or bringing some lighthearted fun to the Center, Ace is always ready to celebrate student progress and boost math confidence.
