Build Confidence. Strengthen Skills. Achieve Your Best.

Preparing for an important math exam can feel overwhelming. At Mathnasium of Turlock, our Test Prep Program is designed to help students strengthen their mathematical skills, build confidence, and develop effective problem-solving strategies so they can approach their exams feeling prepared and capable.

Our goal is not simply to help students memorize formulas or practice hundreds of questions. We focus on understanding the mathematics behind each problem, identifying areas that need improvement, and developing the skills students need to solve problems accurately and efficiently.

What Our Test Prep Program Includes

1. Personalized Assessment

We begin by identifying the student's current skill level, strengths, and areas for improvement. This allows us to create a focused learning plan based on the student's individual needs and upcoming testing goals.

2. Targeted Math Skill Development

Students receive instruction and practice in the mathematical concepts most relevant to their exam. Depending on the student's grade level and test, this may include:

  • Arithmetic and number sense

  • Fractions, decimals, and percentages

  • Ratios and proportions

  • Pre-algebra and algebra

  • Linear equations and inequalities

  • Functions

  • Geometry

  • Measurement

  • Statistics and data analysis

  • Probability

  • Problem solving and mathematical reasoning

  • Advanced algebra and other higher-level concepts when appropriate

3. Test-Taking Strategies

Knowing the math is only part of performing well on a test. Students also learn strategies to help them approach questions efficiently and confidently, including:

  • Understanding what a question is really asking

  • Breaking complex problems into manageable steps

  • Identifying important information

  • Eliminating incorrect answer choices

  • Estimating and checking answers

  • Managing time effectively

  • Avoiding common calculation and reasoning mistakes

  • Knowing when to move on and return to a challenging question

4. Practice & Skill Reinforcement

Students receive focused practice designed to reinforce the concepts they are learning. Regular practice helps improve accuracy, speed, and confidence while allowing instructors to identify areas that may require additional attention.

5. Progress Monitoring

We continually monitor student progress and adjust the learning plan as needed. Parents can stay informed about their child's development, areas of strength, and skills that may need additional practice.

Test Preparation For

Our program can support students preparing for a variety of math-related assessments, including:

  • SAT Math

  • ACT Math

  • PSAT

  • School and district assessments

  • Placement and entrance exams

  • End-of-course exams

  • College-preparatory assessments

  • Other important math assessments based on the student's individual needs

Why Start Early?

The strongest test preparation doesn't happen the night before an exam. Building mathematical confidence takes time.

Starting early gives students the opportunity to identify skill gaps, strengthen foundational concepts, practice problem-solving strategies, and become comfortable with the types of questions they may encounter.

Whether a student needs a few weeks of focused preparation or several months of skill development, we can help create a plan around their individual goals and timeline.

Our Approach

At Mathnasium of Turlock, we believe students perform their best when they understand the math and feel confident using it.

Our instructors provide individualized guidance in a supportive learning environment. We meet students where they are, help them build on their existing skills, and work toward greater mathematical independence.

SAT or ACT Test Prep FAQ

  • What does Mathnasium’s test prep program include?

Our math test prep program is designed to give high school students the knowledge and tools needed to excel on the SAT and ACT. Students will attend two 90-minute sessions per week for three months, working with our expert tutors and proprietary test-prep materials to sharpen their skills.

  • What makes Mathnasium’s standardized test prep program different?

Our test prep program focuses exclusively on building math skills. We provide individualized instruction and proprietary test prep materials specifically designed for the SAT and ACT to help students excel. Our tutors prioritize true understanding, helping them master the math rather than relying on test-taking tricks. This will pay off both on test day and in their postsecondary education.

  • How does Mathnasium prepare students for SAT & ACT math?

Before starting the sessions, we conduct a diagnostic assessment to identify your student's strengths and areas for improvement. This enables us to tailor the sessions to focus on the specific topics they need to work on. Additionally, during the sessions, students will be given proprietary practice questions that reflect the style and rigor of the SAT and ACT.

  • Is there any difference between Mathnasium’s online and in-center SAT & ACT math tutoring?

No, there isn’t. Students who choose to join Mathnasium online will receive the same quality of live, face-to-face instruction and even work with the same tutors they would meet at their local learning center.

  • What’s the difference between DSAT and SAT?

The Digital SAT (DSAT) is the new version of the SAT that transforms the testing experience from the traditional paper-and-pencil format to a digital one. Starting in spring 2024, the DSAT will be taken on approved devices like Windows or Mac computers, iPads, or school-managed Chromebooks.

Here are some of the standout features of the DSART:

    • Digital-First: Instead of a paper-and-pencil test, students will use a special app called Bluebook™ designed by the College Board.
    • Adaptive Design: The DSAT adapts to how students perform. The more questions they answer correctly, the tougher the next ones become.
    • Streamlined Format: The test is shorter—only 2 hours and 24 minutes. The Reading and Writing sections are combined into one, and there are separate Math sections.
  • Can I enroll in this program even if I'm not currently a Mathnasium student?

Absolutely! Our test prep program is open to all high school students, whether they are current Mathnasium students or new students looking for math support.

  • How can I enroll?

Enrolling is easy! Just follow these steps:

    1. Complete the form at the top of the page.
    2. Expect a call from an education specialist to discuss your needs.
