Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: I have a MS in Business Analytics from University of Texas at Austin and BS in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT). Prior to opening Mathnasium of Union City, I worked in non-profit, fintech startup and consulting. When it came to starting something of my own, Mathnasium made a lot of sense because of my strong foundation in Math and a deep love for teaching. I am enthusiastic about helping every child in the Union City community to truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them.
Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: Union City is an extremely diverse city. I really enjoy interacting with parents, kids and instructors from different background.
Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: Mathnasium of Union City is proud to be one of the official sponsors for New Haven Schools Foundation Diamond in Education 2022 Gala, an annual fundraiser to support NHUSD students and schools. Along with that, the center also put a month of free sessions as an auction prize for the kids during the Gala fundraiser.
Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: I have always been a math lover. I used to help my neighborhood kids with their math homework when I was only in 6th grade. I used to love solving challenging math problems in school and have been an enrichment student since the very beginning.
Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I would have loved the 'fun' element that Mathnasium puts in its teaching method
Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Union City? A: Union City has a lot of great hikes to explore. Union Landing Shopping Center (where Mathnasium is located) has an indoor skydiving for people who enjoy doing adventurous activities.
