Aekta Patel

Center Director

Aekta Patel serves as Center Director at Mathnasium of Urbana, where she combines her background in finance, economics, and business leadership with her passion for education. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Babson College and an MBA from Georgetown University. 

Aekta believes that every child can succeed in math with the right guidance. She loves using the Mathnasium Method™ to help students gain confidence and discover that math truly can be fun. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her newborn and family. 

Amanda Brooks

Lead Instructor

Amanda is a former middle school math teacher who loves helping students grow their confidence in math. Her favorite subject to teach is Algebra, and she encourages students to embrace mistakes as part of learning. 

At Mathnasium, Amanda finds joy in watching students apply what they’ve learned to new challenges. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dogs Westley and Benny, attending sports games, and vacationing at the Outer Banks each summer. 

Natalie Suthard

Instructor

Natalie is a junior at Urbana High School who loves helping kids discover that math can be exciting and rewarding. She enjoys showing students how problem-solving skills can make a difference both inside and outside the classroom, and she takes pride in helping them move from frustration to confidence. 

Outside of Mathnasium, Natalie plays soccer, interns at a local elementary school, and spends her free time with family and friends. She hopes to inspire every student she works with to approach math with curiosity, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. 

Tyler Feemster

Instructor

Tyler is a Princeton University graduate with a degree in mathematics and a deep enthusiasm for teaching. He’s passionate about helping students grasp complex concepts by breaking them into approachable, logical steps and encouraging them to see math as both creative and precise. 

At Mathnasium, Tyler fosters curiosity and perseverance by challenging students with thought-provoking questions that build understanding and independence. When he’s not teaching, he enjoys exploring advanced math problems, lifting weights, and continuing his lifelong pursuit of learning and discovery. 

Marco Cifuentes-Urtubey

Instructor

Marco is a recent graduate from University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He also holds an associate's degree in mechanical engineering. He has a deep passion for mathematics and enjoys teaching others in hopes that they too might find it fun and challenging. He listens well to questions from students, offering clear and detailed explanations to help students grasp concepts. Outside of Mathnasium, Marco enjoys listening to music, gaming, exercising, and cooking!

Gautham Ramachandran

Instructor

Gautham Ramachandran is a senior at Linganore High School with a
passion for math and a drive to help others succeed. He believes that
learning becomes stronger through teaching, which motivates him to
make math feel approachable and engaging for each student. Gautham
loves connecting challenging concepts to real-world applications,
aiming to deepen students' understanding through insightful questions.
Outside of Mathnasium, Gautham enjoys playing football and basketball
with friends, reading books, & doing trivia. He's excited to share his
love for math and learning with others at Mathnasium!"

Janelle Annor

Instructor


Janelle Annor is a recent graduate of Dartmouth College, a member of the eight Ivy League institutions. At Dartmouth she earned her Bachelor’s degree with high academic honors. She majored in Neuroscience and earned a minor in Anthropology concentrated in Global Health. She worked at a local Mathnasium for over three years while in highschool, where she supported students using the Mathnasium method! She has experience working with elementary, middle, and high school students on a quest to enhance their mathematical literacy. Janelle has worked with students in one-on-one sessions and in the mathnasium group setting. She has experience helping students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. At Mathnasium she has also supported students in achieving high scores on the math sections of the SAT and ACT. She served as a peer tutor for Statistics, Calculus, Pre-Calculus while studying at Dartmouth. In her free time she enjoys knitting, reading, playing instruments, and exercising. In college Janelle partook in the Dartmouth ROTC program and is a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve. She will attend medical school in the next academic year.
