Q: How do you know what kind of math students in your center/re need to be taught?
A: A few comprehensive assessments shows what concepts students already know and where they might need a little help. The results of the assessment are what we use in building the individual lesson plans for our students. Our goal is to build on the strengths and address the weaknesses.
Q: Why do students need to take tests?
A: I always tell students that the first day is the hardest, because they have to take a test (or sometimes 2). But those assessments let us know exactly what concepts we need to know to work on to help them be successful in the current class, as well as, prepare for future classes.
Q: Can Mathnasium help students prepare for their tests in math class?
A: We always take time to help students prepare for tests or quizzes. We are trying to firm up the foundation - the understanding of math in general. We want to build confidence!
Q: What about College Placement Tests?
A: We have assessments and materials to help students prepare for the SAT and ACT. We will review concepts needed for success, as well as, test-taking strategies.
