Jerry has dedicated more than 20 years to the education field and has been a part of the Mathnasium family since 2016. He earned his Bachelor's degree from UCSD and his MBA from CSU Fullerton. Throughout his career, he has helped thousands of students build confidence in math while serving in leadership and operational roles supporting both individual learning centers and multi-center organizations. Jerry is passionate about helping students develop strong problem-solving skills and reach their full potential. Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, meeting and connecting with people, traveling, and cheering on his daughters in their many activities.
Christian joined the Mathnasium team in March 2025. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University and has several years of experience tutoring and teaching math and science. Originally from Washington State, he moved to California in 2021 and is passionate about helping students grow both academically and personally. He believes that building confidence and developing real-world problem-solving skills are key to a student’s long-term success, in math and in life. Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys running, camping, and reading.
Kris holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology from China and a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and Data Science from UCLA. With over 15 years of experience in education, she has worked extensively with students and families in both China and the United States. Her strong academic background, combined with a deep understanding of both Chinese and American math education systems, enables her to help students strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and develop effective problem-solving strategies. Kris is passionate about making math accessible and enjoyable for every student. She believes that with the right support and personalized learning plan, every child can achieve success in mathematics.
Doris Jiang has worked in the education industry for several years, specializing in K–12 education planning and academic advising. She has had the privilege of working closely with students and their families, helping them navigate their academic journeys and achieve their educational goals.
Passionate about teaching and student development, Doris finds the greatest fulfillment in encouraging students, building their confidence, and watching them grow academically and personally. She believes every child has the potential to succeed with the right guidance, support, and encouragement.
To further deepen her expertise, Doris is currently pursuing a Certificate in College Counseling through UCLA, expanding her knowledge to better support students as they prepare for higher education. She is committed to making a meaningful impact on every family she serves while continuing to grow as an education professional.
Thao joined Mathnasium as an instructor in February 2025. Currently a student at University of California, Irvine, she is working towards earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, followed by plans of attending dental school. She aspires to one day become a dentist and open her own clinic. With her own love for STEM, she hopes that she can help ignite that same passion in young students, enthusiastically sharing the importance of math with a positive and uplifting approach. In her free time, she loves to spend time with friends and family, play video games, and practice piano.
James joined the Mathnasium team as an instructor in November 2024. He is currently studying Data Science at Irvine Valley College with an intent to transfer to UCI or UCLA. He has always had a passion for teaching and has previous volunteer experience as both a teacher and a tutor. In his free time, James enjoys watching baseball and playing various sports with his younger sibling, including basketball and baseball.
Vera is currently a sophomore in high school. As a former Mathnasium student, she enjoys helping students with their math in the same fashion her teachers have taught her. As a diligent student, she hopes to pursue a career in STEM and assist others along the way. In her free time, she can be found painting, writing short stories, and spending time with her well-loved pets.
