Reed Brown, Owner
Reed has always loved math and enjoys helping kids learn to love math and how to use math in their daily lives. Reed earned a BS of Electrical Engineering degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters of Business Administration degree at Boise State University. Reed has spent over 25 years as a successful engineering and operations executive at Hewlett Packard, Quantum, and Iomega. In 2004, he decided to test his entrepreneurial skills and created Matchbin (now Radiate Media), a successful internet software company.
Reed worked for Hewlett Packard in Boise for 15 years where he raised his family. Reed loves the Boise area and felt that by opening a Math Learning Center in the Treasure Valley he could give back to the community where his kids grew up. Reed opened his first Mathnasium in Utah in January, 2013 and his team has helped over 1500 students improve their grades and increase their confidence in math.
Dan Hintz, Regional Director
Dan has always had a passion for helping kids and has found teaching math to kids to be the greatest professional joy of his life. Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Central Washington University and a Master of Science degree in Logistics from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He served 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 2012 to pursue a lifelong dream of teaching math to kids. He spent two years teaching high school math at an alternative high school and tutoring all ages of students in the community. Throughout his life, he has been involved in teaching, leading, and coaching children in many activities. He is married to Leah and has six children, Sabrina, Zechariah, Stuart, Michaella, Shirley, and Betty. Dan and the Mathnasium Idaho team are committed to helping children grow their interest and confidence in math and prepare them for a successful college education and career in technology, business, finance, medical, manufacturing, science, biology, or other fields that require strong math skills.
Erica Iverson, Center Director
An Idaho native, Erica is a licenced Professional Engineer who earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Idaho and Master's of Science Degree at Washington State University in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures. She worked in engineering for 5 years in a variety of different positions including coporate engineer, project manager, and project engineer. In 2018 Erica decided to follow her drive to help students with their math skills and join Mathnasium. She enjoys working with kids to help show them the value math can have in their lives. In her free time, Erica loves camping and other outdoor activities with her family and friends.
Cindy Wiedeback, Instructor
Cindy traveled from the midwest to Idaho after earning her Bachelor in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, and her Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. After a successful career as a computer programmer, Cindy began tutoring mathematics in 2006, during which she has helped many struggling students build confidence in math. Since joining the Mathnasium in 2015, Cindy has continued to help students grow confidence in their math skills and their ability to problem solve. She herself enjoyed the challenge of solving math problems, and relishes the opportunity to share this same joy with students.
Alyssa Lee, Instructor
Alyssa is currently attending Renaissance High School as part of their International Baccalaureate program. As a high achieving student, Alyssa has been involved with speech and debate since her freshman year, and has stepped up as the co-captain for policy debate. She also volunteers at Renaissance as a Pi Center math tutor. Ever since elementary school, her teachers have praised her work ethic and she has been consistently placed in honors and advanced math classes. With a big heart for helping her peers and her community (volunteering with young children at her church) Alyssa is a great role model for our students at Mathnasium.
Egzona Rexhepi, Instructor
Egzona is completing her senior year of high school, currently dual-enrolled at Centennial and Capital High in order to take a wider array of classes, which align with her future career goals: Physics and Computer Science. By the end of her senior year, she will have completed 16 AP courses, ranking near the very top of her graduating class. With a passion for STEM, she leads the girl’s STEM club at Centennial High, hoping to encourage more young girls to become interested in the field. She joined Mathnasium in order help children develop their math skills, as well as to show them that math can be fun!
Greta Reid, Instructor
Originally from Anchorage Alaska, Greta attended her home university before moving to Arizona to complete her Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology. She is passionate about math, and describes herself as a “math to English translator.” As such, she has been a great addition to our team being able to help our students gain a better grasp of difficult math concepts. In her free time, Greta is learning how to create CAD (Computer-Aided Design) models for 3D printing.
Jeffrey Watkins, Instructor
An Eagle Native, Jeffrey graduated from Renaissance High School, finishing 9th in his class. Jeffrey is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with an emphasis in STEM Education, at Boise State University. Jeffrey loves working with kids, and helping them learn, and grow into confident young adults. Before joining our team, he worked at the YMCA as a Sports Camp Counselor and Sand Volleyball Coach. With a lifelong passion for math and sciences, Jeffrey hopes to share and instill the same passion with our students, while entertaining them along the way. In his free time, Jeffrey enjoys playing and coaching sports, and he is currently the Freshman Assistant Volleyball coach at Rocky Mountain High School.
Puja Batchu, Instructor
Puja is currently attending Centennial High School where she holds an unweighted 4.0 GPA. She has always had a passion for math, and has always pushed herself make the most of her education. As a sophomore, she took Calculus BC and received a 5 on her test. She is also vice-president of German Club, and co-president of Environmental Club at Centennial high. For her talents in dance, Puja was offered, and accepted, an apprenticeship grant from the Idaho Commision of the Arts. She joined our team in late 2017 and has quickly developed a passion for helping students. In her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing, and swimming.
Sara Reid, Instructor
Sara is finishing out her senior year at Renaissance High School. She currently holds a cumulative 4.1 GPA and is working towards her International Baccalaureate diploma. Sara has a strong interest in engineering, chemistry, and math, and in the future plans on pursuing a degree in Materials Science at Boise State University. Sara joined our team in late 2017. She is very enthusiastic about helping kids achieve their goals, and has been a great role model for out students. She is also an active member of her community, volunteering for the Meridian Food Bank. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, drawing, and jamming out to music.
John Chen, Instructor
John is attending Centinnial High School where he is currently ranked at the top of his class. By his Junior year, John has already completed the two courses of Calculus offered by Centennial, and must now venture out to surrounding colleges in order to earn additional math credits. With a strong passion for STEM, John attended a six week math camp at the University of Washington to further pursue advanced mathematics. In his free time, he continues to pursue and promote Math and Science learning. He is a Programmer for the robotics team Team Tators, who took 3rd place at the Robotics World Tournament in Houston, TX.
