Mathnasium has done a good job making math fun for my kid, and she's above grade level at school now. When David was managing the Santa Cruz branch, it was the most fun- she doesn't quite enjoy her time there as much now, but we're hoping the new managers will find their footing and bring some more fun energy back to the learning. Expensive, but worth it for our family.

My son is a gifted child and loves Math. He asked for more Math than providided at his school and we went to Mathnasium. Once there, they provided a free assesment and we were able to know he was two grades above his. All the staff has been very welcoming and the atmosphere is engaging for the kids. They use a reward system that has been motivating my son to earn stars to be able to trade for a lego set. He gets excited every time he has a session and doesn’t want to leave, since after his lesson he loves to play at the puzzle table. Mathnasium finds each child wherever they are at and makes the learning process fun. We recommend without hesitation. Thanks, Mathnasium!

Everyone is so caring about the well being of the students and their success . My son looks forward to going to Mathnasium because they make learning math fun. It is a life changing experience . David is so good with my son, he truly cares. He arranged for zoom meetings with my son’s math teachers . He calls me to let me know what is the progress with my son and what do we need to do to help him better. I mean it is amazing .. you don’t find this anywhere else. Carol always listens when I talk to her. She is so understanding and caring . They always try to accommodate our last minutes schedule changes . They try their best to not turn my son away even when he doesn’t have an apt and when I ask to send him on a short notice unless they absolutely can’t accommodate us . We are very lucky to have Mathnasium if Santa Cruz near us .

My son was not being challenged in first grade despite my efforts at working with his teacher to give him math work at his level. Towards the end of the school year, I started looking into extracurricular programs that would give my son the opportunity to learn at his own pace. We looked at the programs available in the area and my son chose this Mathnasium center. What struck me most about the early days at Mathnasium is how excited my son would be to attend. We had him enrolled in a variety of summer camps, yet his favorite place to go was Mathnasium. This was the exact opposite reaction he had to doing extra work at home; it had become a battle to get him to do even his assigned homework from school, let alone any extra work. Whereas my son relished doing work and reaching mastery checks at Mathnasium. I have been very pleasantly surprised that this trend has continued. From my perspective, I attribute it in large part to the people at Mathnasium. David and his team are simply great with kids. They are very welcoming, greeting my son by his name and asking him about his other activities, or school, or how he’s doing. I am certain they are equally great at working with kids in a positive manner during sessions as well, as my son regularly leaves with a smile on his face. Much of Mathnasium’s advertising that I have seen centers around giving kids confidence in math and reigniting the interest/joy in the subject. In that regard they have absolutely delivered for my son. His confidence has soared and, after a few short months, he is working 1-2 grade levels above his own. Honestly, my only hesitance in writing this review is that I don’t want the center to become too busy to accommodate my son at the times that work best for my family. This center is an absolute gem. Although it is not inexpensive, I and my wife have spent a lot of money on our kids’ education, from private school to books and apps and educational programs, and I can confidently say that I have not seen better results for the money than Mathnasium.

Learning at Mathnasium has been a great experience for my son, age 14. Before he started just over a year ago, he was about a grade behind in math. Now he is top of his class. He is always happy to go and gets great work done.

During the pandemic, our child struggled with math through virtual learning and we struggled to help her in a way that she could understand the math problems. Math assignments were often a battle, child in tears, stressed parents. Then, we heard about Family Math Night through the school and decided to join in to see what these math games were about. Our child not only enjoyed playing the math games that night but also won a scholarship to Mathnasium for a month! In that month, she was eager to attend each math session and understood each lesson so much better than before. She has gone through almost this entire school year with no complaints about math, thanks to Mathnasium having the skill to teach in a way that she understands. In addition to that, you also make learning fun! She enjoys your puzzles and games that exercise critical thinking, problem solving, etc. Our child is still enthusiastic about Mathnasium as she was a year ago. So grateful such a program exists. Thank you!! Crying during math lessons is now ancient history in our family.

Neither of our children have ever really liked Maths and yet they enjoy their classes at Mathnasium. David and his team are always encouraging, even when the topics are new and challenging. The prizes they give for work completed is very motivating to the younger children. Overall we couldn’t be happier. Our children are making great progress and, perhaps more importantly, are learning to enjoy maths.
