At Mathnasium, we help kids understand math by teaching the way that makes sense to them. Children who consistently attend sessions at our learning centers enjoy a transformative learning experience and make huge strides in the classroom.

Attitude: When math makes sense, kids develop a more positive attitude toward math.

Understanding: Mathnasium teaches for understanding, giving students the ability to succeed in any math environment. As Larry Martinek, Mathnasium’s Chief Instructional Officer notes, “It's pretty easy to forget things you memorize and near impossible to forget things you understand."

School Progress: When kids learn math in a way that they truly understand, they achieve greater success in the classroom.

"Brett went from F's on his math Test, studying and hours of homework to A's on math test and working on problems with his friends at Mathnasium.  Math isn't stressful for Brett anymore and Mathnasium has made  a big difference for him, I want to thank you and your staff for helping him!"

The educators at Mathnasium make learning fun and non-threatening. We have struggled with math at home from a variety of perspectives, and all I can tell you this with all certainty...Mathnasium not only helps children learn difficult math concepts, but they make it fun too. Isn't that how learning should be?! My daughter looks forward to going, and I am so grateful she is learning the concepts that are not sticking at school.

My younger daughter was struggling with various math concepts, and I was struggling with homework help at home. She participated in Mathnasium's summer program and her grade improved so much that she has been bumped up to advanced math! What I didn't realize it that Mathnasium also helps with the advanced math concepts. So grateful you are in the Des Moines area!

Hello,
I just wanted to share this awesome news we received today regarding our daughter. [Accepted into Gifted Program for Math.] We are so proud of her and we just can't thank you enough at Mathnasium for helping her get to this point in her academic career.  We honestly didn't think we'd be getting news like this when she started in Mathnasium just a few short months ago.  Thank you so much for instilling the confidence and knowledge in her that we knew she had all along.
Sincerely,
- Parent of a Maple Grove Elementary 3rd Grader

In addition to your program greatly improving her math skills, more importantly you've helped create a sense of confidence in her and her abilities. Have to say it makes it all worthwhile when she's about to enter the most important educational years that will carry her successfully through the rest of her life.

Thank you to you and the rest of your staff for that gift of confidence you give these young minds.

My best description of Mathnasium is "all smiles!"

Math for us didn't start out a "school problem." It developed with a poor teacher and no school support. The teacher and school administrators told me that my daughter had a "learning problem", but only in math. I found their diagnosis hard to believe since the math challenge only started when she entered this class and the "problem" never surfaced in any other subjects. I took my child to the University of Iowa where professionals laughed at the "diagnosis" from the West Des Moines teacher. Well, that was the beginning of our math saga.

Not unlike her mother, my daughter continued to find math a challenge and not her favorite subject. I was no help, telling her just "pass the class."

But as high school came closer, I knew my daughter would face more difficult math classes - all required to graduate. A family member already had her daughter at Mathnasium and suggested I consider it. My daughter tagged along with her cousin for several sessions. She enjoyed herself completely and found you and your associates to be fun, understanding, non-judgmental and encouraging. I happily signed her up for Mathnasium.

My daughter now has a "go to" person when she has math questions. She takes her homework with her for help and review and her homework scores are outstanding. Her math grade has improved significantly. She teeters between an A and B, with C no longer an option.

I also learned that you will assist with my daughter when she is ready to prepare for college entrance exams, (ACT/SAT). WOW! How wonderful to face those tests with some preparation!

I encourage any parent facing "student math issues" to seriously consider Mathnasium as a partner in the remedy. The student still does all the work but you and your staff give these children just the right confidence, encouragement, and guidance. We, as parents, are able to put aside the "tutor" role and just be proud parents.

With much support and deep appreciation!

I would highly recommend Mathnasium of West Des Moines! The personal attention and teaching style that is given to each child by Dan and the staff has really made an amazing difference in my daughter's understanding of Math. She went from hating math to actually enjoying the challenge.

Her school uses the Everyday Math program. We decided to "brush up" on her math skills over the summer at home and that is when we realized how much she was struggling. Going into Middle School she could not even do a simple basic division problem! How could that be? Her teachers had never given us reason to have concern.

Dan was great in explaining the Everyday Math program in a way that the teachers in her school did not. Dan and his staff truly have a passion for what they do, and it shows in the way they interact with the kids. Mathnasium has given our daughter the confidence and lifetime skills she needed! Thank you!

I want to let you know that Macy has been accelerated in her math class at school.  She is going to start at Algebra at Stilwell for her math class at the Junior High.  Mathnasium has been a tremendous tool for her success in math. You and your staff have done a great job in getting her prepared for more difficult math concepts.   She enjoys being challenged at math and your program has worked very well for Macy. I appreciate all the help you have given her in the past to get to this point.  I’m sure with the help of Mathnasium she will have a successful transition.  Thank you!!
