Owner/Centre Director
Amisha Patel is the Owner and Centre Director at Mathnasium of Somerset. With a background in Hotel Management and more than a decade in the hospitality industry, she brings strong leadership and a commitment to excellence to her work. Having struggled with math as a child, she is passionate about helping students understand math in a clear and supportive way.
Her goal is to build confidence and improve performance through the Mathnasium Method™. Outside of Mathnasium, Amisha enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Avinash Patel
Owner
Avinash Patel is the Centre Owner at Mathnasium of Somerset. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a master’s in Business Administration. With a deep love for math and a professional background in finance, Avinash understands the importance of strong foundational math skills in both academic and real-world success.
His experience teaching engineering students has shaped his belief in helping children develop confidence, critical thinking, and logical reasoning through math. In his free time, Avinash enjoys watching movies, playing and watching cricket, camping, and spending time with family.

Hi, I am Avani! I am a professional pilot with a strong passion for aviation, precision, and continuous learning. I hold a degree in Economics, which complements my structured and analytical approach to problem-solving. My flying experience has shaped my discipline, situational awareness, and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
In addition to aviation, I bring a diverse background in administration, research, dispatching, event management, and over four years of teaching experience, including teaching French. I enjoy explaining complex ideas in a clear and approachable way while creating organized and supportive environments.
I am committed to helping others build confidence, think critically, and grow steadily by fostering a structured, encouraging environment that supports meaningful learning in mathematics and strengthens problem-solving skills over time.
When I’m not flying or teaching, I enjoy sketching, hiking, and reading, and value activities that support both my personal interests and continued growth.

Victoria is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics at the University of Calgary. She plans to continue on to graduate school and eventually teach at the university level. Her passion for math started in elementary school thanks to inspiring teachers, and now she shares that passion with students at Mathnasium.
Victoria has over seven years of experience working with children and loves helping students have their own “aha” moments. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, listening to music, watching sci-fi movies, and traveling, especially to Mexico.

Hi, I’m Nila! I’m currently a grade 12 student at FFCA High School and I plan to pursue engineering at the University of Calgary. From a young age, I’ve developed a deep love for math as it not only challenges me but also encourages critical and creative thinking. Beyond solving equations, I’m passionate about helping others build confidence in their abilities and appreciate the beauty of problem-solving. At Mathnasium, my goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, learning from them, and pushing past their comfort zones. No. Whether attending online or in-centre, students receive the same quality of live, face-to-face instruction. Online students follow the same personalized learning plans and receive the same guidance and support as students learning in the centre.

Our tutors follow learning plans that are tailored to each student’s specific needs, focusing on closing knowledge gaps, strengthening foundations, and supporting steady progress in school math.
