I'm a graduate student in Public Health at the University of Alberta, with a lifelong appreciation for the art of mathematics. I hope to share my knowledge and passion with every student at Mathnasium. My math studies include completing Math 30-1 and Math 31 in high school, as well as Linear Algebra 1, Calculus for Life Sciences 1, and Statistics 1 and 2 at the University of Alberta. GET TO KNOW JUN: If you were a cartoon, which would you be and why? I would be the road Runner from the Looney Tunes show. That character always made me laugh as a kid and he always got the best of the Coyote. What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten? I once had beef tongue before - it was not very good. What do you do to have fun? I play a lot of sports in my freetime, especially tennis and golf! What’s your biggest pet peeve? I don’t like when people chew loudly it freaks me out. If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be? Pepperoni pizza - a classic fast food. What’s your favorite “math” joke? What’s the best way to get a math tutor? An Add! I love Mathnasium because … Mathnasium presents an opportunity where I can help students grow and help them with the fundamentals of math. Mathnasium creates a positive math experience for kids that promotes numerical fluency and an attitude that is great for approaching real world problems!

I am a high school student who always loved math and found joy in solving problems and discovering new concepts. I look forward to continuing my math journey and inspire others along the way. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students can share their ideas comfortably and overcome challenges with help. GET TO KNOW LILY: If you were a cartoon character, which would you be and why? I would be Minnie Mouse in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because she is a loyal friend who shows kindness. What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten? Once I had mango with soy sauce, it was so weird. What do you do to have fun? I love origami and watching movies. My favorite movie is Interstellar. What is your biggest pet peeve? The sound of a metal spoon scraping the bowl gives me goosebumps. If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be? It would be socks, I lose my socks all the time. What's your favorite "math" joke? Why is six afraid of seven? Because seven-eight(ate)-nine! I love Mathnasium because...Mathnasium gives me the opportunity to share my passion for math with students and help them build a strong understanding of fundamental math concepts. It's rewarding to see students grow in confidence and develop a love for learning. The supportive environment here is perfect for helping students feel comfortable to talk and discover their true potential.

I have a Bachelor of Science Honors in Computer Science from the University of Alberta, graduating in December 2024. Throughout my studies, I’ve explored various topics, including machine learning, natural language processing, and database management. If I were a cartoon character, I’d be Tigger from Winnie the Pooh because I enjoy bringing energy and excitement wherever I go, since I like teasing people here and there. The weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten is beef tongue in a Mexican taco restaurant I went to, it was a bit too coarse and felt like I was swallowing a roasted finger haha. In my free time, I love playing soccer; it helps me stay active and it’s my childhood sport- my favourite player of all time is Mesut Ozil. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don’t wash their hands after using the washroom, it’s pretty crazy to do if you ask me and it also risks more diseases for everyone else. If I could have an unlimited supply of anything, it would be sparkling water; it is an absolute must. My favourite tech joke is; Why don’t programmers like nature? Too many bugs! I enjoy working at Mathnasium because I’ve always enjoyed working on a place that acts as a learning experience, as well as one that encourages continuous growth and collaboration. The best thing that motivates me here is to see someone improve week on week with their math skills, which is one of the most foundational educational pillars a student can get, and helping them achieve it better and better is very cool to see because seeing progress in real time is amazing. Helping others with technical concepts is also a challenge in breaking things into easier concepts, but once they understand and I see them gain confidence in their skills its also something amazing to see.
Students can take 3 easy steps to enroll at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and what they still need to learn.
Our caring, specially trained tutors work with elementary, middle, and high school students of all skill levels looking to learn and master any K-12 math class and topic, including Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus.
Yes, our students can attend Mathnasium at our centre or log into live, face-to-face sessions with their tutor.
Each student is given a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints their strengths, knowledge gaps, and unique goals, so that we can create a personalized learning plan that will put them on the best path to math mastery.
Unlike a math class, Mathnasium teaches to the individual. Our expert instructors provide face-to-face instruction at the right pace for each student.
We use The Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach which combines personalized learning plans with proven techniques to build math knowledge upon what students already know, so they're able to retain what they learn and gain confidence along the way.
We empower students of all skill levels to excel in math, whether they are looking to catch up, keep up, or get ahead on their math journey.
We work with advanced students to expand their math skills and help them achieve their greatest potential. At Mathnasium, advanced students can explore the topics beyond their school’s math curriculum and receive personalized support to achieve their unique academic goals.
If a student is struggling or simply looking to keep up in their math class, Mathnasium will build upon what they already know, addressing their learning gaps and teaching math in a way that makes sense to them.
Mathnasium provides premium value by combining a superior learning experience with an efficient structure that keeps costs low. There is a flat enrollment fee for our program, and students attend regularly—much like a gym membership. We recommend that they attend Mathnasium 2-3 times per week as attending less frequently will slow results and attending too often could lead to student burnout. Pricing varies by program and geographic area. Contact our center for more details on enrolment packages.
