🌟 Student Spotlight: Alex J. – A Champion in Math and Confidence

At Mathnasium of Center City, we love celebrating students who demonstrate perseverance, growth, and a positive attitude. This month, we're thrilled to recognize Alex J. as our Student of the Month!

Alex's accomplishments this year have been nothing short of outstanding. He recently earned 1st Place in the Math Kangaroo Competition, an international mathematics contest that challenges students with creative problem-solving. He also scored an impressive 96 on his TerraNova Math Assessment, reflecting the strong mathematical foundation he has built through consistent effort and dedication.

When Alex first joined Mathnasium, however, his journey looked very different.

"To be honest, I was a little frustrated about doing math outside of school."

Like many students, Alex wasn't sure what to expect. But with time, encouragement, and consistent attendance, his attitude toward math completely changed.

"Now, however, I love it."

One of the reasons Alex enjoys coming to Mathnasium is the supportive environment.

"I love how friendly everyone is at Mathnasium."

Our instructors work hard to create a place where students feel encouraged to ask questions, build confidence, and celebrate every success along the way.

Outside of math, Alex has an adventurous goal. One day, he hopes to travel to France and visit its historic forts. We love seeing students dream big and connect their education to the places they hope to explore in the future.

Academically, Alex is especially proud of the progress he's made in multiplication.

"I used to be terrible at multiplication. Now I know all my multiplication facts."

That confidence has opened the door to new challenges, and today Alex says he's most passionate about multiplication and division. His growth is a perfect example of how mastering foundational skills leads to greater success in more advanced math.

Alex also wanted to share a heartfelt message with the people who have supported him throughout his journey.

"I really want to say to my caretakers, thank you so much for helping me improve my math scores and for being so nice to me."

We're incredibly proud of everything Alex has accomplished. From overcoming challenges with multiplication to becoming a Math Kangaroo Champion and earning an outstanding 96 on the TerraNova Math Assessment, Alex has shown that hard work, consistency, and a positive mindset truly pay off.
